Theanna Villa & Spa Canggu Review, Canggu, Bali: Luxury Villas For A Sensible Price Tag

Luxury villas are what put Bali on the tourist map from a hotel perspective. Sadly, they’ve become much more expensive in recent years, and in areas like Canggu, they can often be unaffordable for most people.

Theanna Villas & Spa sits in a nice mid-range price bracket; however, expensive enough to deliver real luxury, not so cheap as to compromise the experience.

So, we sent our team out to discover if this was true value for money, and this is what they learned in their time at Theanna Villa & Spa Canggu in Bali.

Cleanliness and Maintenance

Theanna Villa & Spa Canggu

Some of the bathroom facilities here are open to the outdoors, which is very popular in Bali’s tropical climate, but that does make it pretty hard to keep everything perfectly clean.

There are also a few noticeable parts of this resort where things need replacing rather than maintaining. Overall, the standards here are very good but not perfect.

Rating:

Sleep Quality

Theanna Villa & Spa Canggu

The beds are a little on the short side, which means that taller folks (over 6 feet) may find them a struggle to get comfortable in.

Otherwise, the beds are a decent size and very comfortable, but the blackout curtains won’t hold full daylight at bay, which can be a pain for those who want to recover after partying in Canggu’s nightlife scene.

Rating:

Staff Attitude And Service Culture

Theanna Villa & Spa Canggu

We found the staff here typified Balinese hospitality culture, and they delivered a wonderful, warm experience throughout our stay.

They don’t quite have the polish of 5-star resorts, but they’re not far off, and there’s a certain charm to it all.

Check-in/Check-out Experience

Theanna Villa & Spa Canggu

It’s not a big complex, and you won’t be spending any time queuing before you’re checked in and heading to your villa.

Check out is easy enough, too, and they are happy to store your luggage if you want to spend some more time in Canggu before you depart.

Rating:

Bathroom Quality & Functionality

Theanna Villa & Spa Canggu

As already mentioned, the bathrooms are open-air to some extent, which some people love and others, well, not so much. You can expect the occasional lizard/insect to join you in these spaces, and they aren’t dirt-free.

However, the toiletries and towels are good, and the water pressure is excellent.

Value For Money

Theanna Villa & Spa Canggu

We think this villa complex represents very good value for money. There are some very minor niggles, but nothing that impacts on the overall quality of your stay.

With a bit of work and renovation, we think this could become excellent value for money.

Food And Beverage Execution

Theanna Villa & Spa Canggu

Ketela is the on-site restaurant, and it does a decent à la carte breakfast for those who like to have their day starter included in the room rate.

Overall, it’s better than average but not quite on par with the very best that Canggu has to offer, but we’d be happy to eat here if we were passing by.

Rating:

Location & Immediate Surroundings

Theanna Villa & Spa Canggu

This is Canggu, it’s Bali’s most popular beach town for good reasons. You’ll find beaches, surfing, horse riding, beach clubs, nightlife, bars, shopping and much more within walking distance.

It’s also a great spot to explore the rest of Bali from, and we think everyone should spend some time in Canggu on their Bali holiday.

Rating:

Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise

Theanna Villa & Spa Canggu

The facilities on-site are as promised and in decent condition, though the private pools are on the small side.

However, there’s really not much in the way of facilities, and that’s OK, at this price point for a high-end villa, there have to be compromises somewhere.

Rating:

Overall “Personality”

We think this is a very nice complex, but we’d be surprised if anyone was still raving about it years down the line.

It’s a solid choice for a holiday, but it definitely isn’t one of Bali’s star attractions.

Theanna Villa & Spa Canggu

We enjoyed our time at Theanna Villa & Spa Canggu, and we think that most other people will (as long as they don’t have children with them).

It delivers solid value along with a very comfortable place to be. We would note that there’s quite a bit of competition at this price point, though, so make sure it’s exactly what you want before you book.

FAQs

Is Theanna Villa & Spa Canggu Family Friendly?

No, this resort is an adults-only resort, and children are not allowed anywhere within the resort grounds.

If you want to stay as a family of adults, this is fine, and they can provide extra beds at a rate of 750,000 IDR (approx. $50 USD or $75 AUD) per night.

Don’t worry, though, if you’ve got kids, Canggu has plenty of great child-friendly resorts and villas, you won’t miss out.

Final Thoughts On Theanna Villa & Spa Canggu

Theanna Villa & Spa Canggu is a great place to stay if you want luxury villas in Canggu but don’t want to break the bank in the pursuit of comfort.

This place makes a great base to enjoy Canggu from or to explore the island at large, and while it is a bit short on facilities, it’s always nice to spend some romantic time without any distractions.

Overall, if you think Theanna Villa & Spa might suit your holiday needs, it almost certainly will. Highly recommended.
