Cleanliness and Maintenance
There were some real issues with cleaning and maintenance at this hotel, and while some were clearly out of reach for the staff, some were not.
In particular, cigarette smoke seems to drift in through the ventilation system, and the doors don’t fit well, which allows mosquitoes to enter.
Sleep Quality
While the rooms themselves are big and comfortable, with good ventilation and air conditioning, nice beds and mattresses, etc.
There is an issue, and that’s one of soundproofing. While we appreciate that the building around the hotel is beyond their control, the noise in the rooms can be prevented with soundproofing.
It’s no big deal if you keep a normal-ish day, but if you’re a late sleeper, it’s a problem.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture
The service staff are superb, and they really do seem to care about how your holiday is and work very hard to overcome issues as they are identified.
Overall, we felt that they were as good as in any hotel in Bali, though we did encounter them a bit more often than at other venues due to other issues with the property.
Check-in/Check-out Experience
Check-in and check-out are both just fine; this isn’t the biggest of resorts, and we doubt anyone waits very long to be in their rooms.
They can store luggage post-check-out if you want to spend some more time in town before you depart.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality
The bathrooms are excellent with nice fixtures and fittings, good toiletries and towels and both solid water pressure and plenty of hot water.
But we are deducting a point for having to share this luxury with some mosquitoes. The hotel has promised to resolve this issue in the future, mind you.
Value For Money
If it weren’t for the small problems, this hotel might be great or even excellent value for money, but given the current issues, we can’t give it any better than “good”.
And that means, you might want to compare it with other properties in Ubud in this price bracket before you book.
Food And Beverage Execution
Pistachio Restaurant felt like a pretty interchangeable hotel restaurant to us; the food was good enough, but it certainly didn’t fill the review team with anything like excitement.
This isn’t really an issue in Ubud, you’re in the best part of the country for trying Balinese food, and there’s a fabulous cafe scene and fine dining scene.
Location & Immediate Surroundings
Ubud is one of Bali’s best-visited destinations. It has the most cultural attractions of any part of the island, it’s cooler than the beach towns, and it has a wonderful dining scene.
However, the flip side of all this good stuff is that it regularly gets a bit crowded, and the traffic can be absolute murder.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise
The facilities here are OK, but given the cost of a room here, we expected a bit more. It’s not the end of the world, again, you’re in Ubud, there’s lots to do around you.
But sometimes, it’s nice to have resources in the hotel to entertain you.
Overall “Personality”
We might be tempted to push the rank on this property up if it wasn’t plagued with these frustrating minor issues. Overall, it’s a nice place that you will go home to talk about and show off on Instagram. But we don’t think you’ll be raving about it for years.

Adiwana Bisma is a very good hotel that if it paid close enough attention to the small details, would be excellent.
Yes, we’d be happy to recommend staying here, but we would note that there are many other equally good choices in Ubud.

Yes, kids of any age are welcome at Adiwana Bisma Ubud. They must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
We should note, though, that while cots are free, additional beds cost a cool 1,000,000 IDR per person per night and that kids over the age of 17 are charged as full-rate adults.
However, while kids are welcome and there is a babysitting service available, there are no real child-specific facilities at this hotel.

Adiwana Bisma feels like it’s situated in the heaven that was old Bali, before the island’s global fame, and we very much liked it.
If you’re seeking to chill out by the pool with beautiful views of the jungle and the sun gently beating down on you, this is going to be a good option.
