This resort is one of our favourite hotels in Ubud.
Cleanliness and Maintenance
There are some issues regarding cleanliness at this hotel, and it’s not really the cleaning team’s fault. There are some fairly “open to the air” sections of the place, and they let in a fair amount of jungle junk, sadly.
It’s not going to ruin your holiday, but if bugs or lizards freak you out, or a leaf in the bedroom is more than you can handle, it’s not for you.
Sleep Quality
While the property itself provides large bedrooms with big, comfy beds with good mattresses, pillows and bedding, there is an issue with noise leakage.
It’s not always present, but sometimes, other guests and even the local neighbourhood find their noise wending its way through your bedroom walls.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture
We found the staff here to be top-notch, and they have that wonderful Balinese touch of warmth, humility and genuine hospitality about them.
They’re also very professional and appear to have been given plenty of authority to resolve issues rather than having to escalate them.
Check-in/Check-out Experience
The check-in process is easy enough, and this isn’t the biggest resort, so you won’t be hanging around too long before you’re in your rooms.
The checkout process is similarly painless, and you’ll find that you’re on your way immediately when you’re ready.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality
The bathrooms also suffer from that “outdoors coming indoors” issue and while that’s not a dealbreaker for us, it might be for the squeamish.
Otherwise, they are well-appointed and of a decent size. The fixtures and fittings are good, and the water pressure is consistent. The toiletries they provide are nice too.
Value For Money
We thought that this resort was very good value for money, but there is an awful lot of competition in this price bracket in Ubud.
So, we’d recommend hunting around to find a resort that’s as close a fit to your perfect choice as possible, before you commit.
Food And Beverage Execution
The Terrace Restaurant is good enough that you’d happily visit during your time in Ubud without staying at the hotel.
However, there is a huge amount of competition on the dining scene in this town and we don’t think it’s qiute in the premier league, either.
Location & Immediate Surroundings
Ubud is lovely and there’s plenty to do in this safe, market town. However, it can get extremely busy since it was popularised in Eat, Pray, Love.
We’d also note that traffic in and out of town can be a real nightmare, we wouldn’t use Ubud as a base to explore Bali from.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise
The facilities on offer are very good and as promsied. However, we do feel that they could, perhaps, provide a few more facilities given the room rate.
Overall “Personality”
We think Pita Maha Resort & Spa is a very attractive resort and if it’s the only place you stay in Ubud, we guarantee that it will be a memorable experience.
However, there are a lot of similar resorts in this area and we don’t think it quite does enough to truly distinguish itself from the pack.

Yes, Pita Maha Resort & Spa is mainly family-friendly. However, only children over the age of 2 may be accompanied by their parents and guardians at this resort.
Surprisingly, up to the age of 12, both cots and extra beds are available free of charge. For children 12 or over, the charge for an extra bed is a fairly substantial 1,100,000 IDR (about $65 USD or $110 AUD) per person, per night.
Children over the age of 18 are charged as adult occupants at this resort.
There aren’t many child-specific facilities at this resort, but babysitting services are available at an extra cost.

Pita Maha Resort & Spa is a gorgeous place just outside of Bali’s best central town, Ubud, with wonderful views of the rice fields and jungle.
The villas and rooms here are luxurious, and there’s a decent array of on-site amenities for you to use.
