The Akasha is nicely located next to the beach in Seminyak, and the room prices, particularly if you book in advance, are surprisingly low for a 5-star hotel in this popular area.
So, what gives? Why should this ultra-luxury resort be so cost-effective when compared to its peers on this stretch of shoreline?
Our team went to investigate The Akasha Luxury Villas & Boutique Hotel in Seminyak, Bali, and this is what they found out.

Cleanliness and Maintenance
We were impressed with the dedication of the cleaning and maintenance teams at this resort, and we couldn’t find any fault with their work at all.
Everything looked fresh and well cared for, and we couldn’t spot any dirt/dust that had gone unnoticed by the crew.

Sleep Quality
Our villa was excellent, and we enjoyed a good night’s sleep. However, we spoke to another couple with a villa closer to the road, and they were nowhere near as happy.
We all agreed the beds were good, and the rooms were lightproof, but sound leaking was a major issue for our fellow guests, and they felt that management wasn’t very helpful in resolving their problem.

Staff Attitude And Service Culture
The staff, as is usually the case in Bali, are excellent, sunny, well-mannered, with a pleasant disposition and a genuine dedication to and flair for customer service.
You’re going to find that the people here really enhance your stay.

Check-in/Check-out Experience
There was nothing special about the check-in process, but there was also nothing wrong with it. It was reasonably efficient, and it didn’t take long for us to be in our rooms.
They can also help store your luggage if you need them to, after check out, so you can spend some more time in Seminyak before you depart.

Bathroom Quality & Functionality
The bathrooms were mainly very nice, but the water pressure wasn’t the best, and we didn’t love the free toiletries (which gave one of us a mild allergic reaction).
They’re just fine overall, but it’s the small details that count at this level.

Value For Money
The headline rate is amazing, but sadly, it’s only for a room; the actual villas are rather more expensive.
Overall, we think this resort is acceptable value for money, though we don’t think it’s close to being more than that, as yet.

Food And Beverage Execution
The food and drinks execution throughout the hotel is decent, but not world-class. We enjoyed everything that we ate and got some nice pics of it, but we also couldn’t name a single dish when questioned about it a day later.

Location & Immediate Surroundings
A lot of people come to Bali just to stay in Seminyak. It’s safe, it has a nice beach, there’s fabulous nightlife, excellent dining and some awesome shopping (for boutique shoppers).
It’s also a great area to base yourself in so that you can explore the rest of the island.

Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise
The facilities they have are OK, the private pools with the villas are very much for cooling off in rather than actual swimming, mind you, as they’re pretty small.
But there aren’t very many facilities here.

Overall “Personality”
We were torn about the personality of the Akasha; there’s no doubt that it has a striking look, and we enjoyed being here.
But we couldn’t decide if it had enough about it to create enduring memories. So, we hedged our bets and gave it a better-than-average rating rather than exceptional.
Summary: Our Overview Of The Akasha Luxury Villas & Boutique Hotel
The Akasha is a very nice place, and you will certainly have a pleasant experience here (as we did). However, we have to note that unless you’re opting for the cheapest room, there is a lot of competition in Seminyak around this price point.
So, you can afford to be very particular about what exactly you want from a hotel. We’d recommend The Akasha to people who want some privacy away from the world and who prefer to spend a lot of time out and about rather than all the time in the hotel itself.
Grading: Very Good/Happy to Return
FAQs
Is The Akasha Luxury Villas & Boutique Hotel Family Friendly?
Yes, The Akasha Luxury Villas & Boutique Hotel is family-friendly. Children are welcome throughout the resort, and they provide free cribs for the youngest children, though if you want an extra bed for older children, that will be chargeable.
The accommodations themselves are large suites and villas with plenty of space for kids to entertain themselves. However, there are no kids’ clubs or child-specific facilities in this resort, and parents will need to keep a watchful eye on their own children throughout their stay.
Overall, it’s a decent option for families, but there are certainly hotels in Seminyak that offer more creature comforts for kids than this one, too.
Final Thoughts On The Akasha Luxury Villas & Boutique Hotel
The headline pricing is, of course, a little misleading. While you can get a room in the resort for this price, it’s the smallest (though still very pleasant) room and the luxury villas are much, much more expensive.
However, that doesn’t mean that this resort is bad value for money, far from it, in fact. Our team enjoyed their stay here.
Overall, though, it’s a bit short on amenities, and you will need to decide if there aren’t other options nearby that provide a bit more to do if you want to spend a lot of time in the resort.
