This fabulous spot on the shoreline at Amankila Private Beach is something to behold; even if you just stopped for the view, you’d be satisfied.
However, it’s their brunch that you’ll be raving about for years to come; it’s very good, and the wine list is impeccable.

Kubu is their main restaurant, which is naturally inspired by root to leaf, and it aims to celebrate the flavours of the island.

This excellent restaurant setting in Sanur is one of our favourite spots for Indonesian dishes on this side of Bali.
The chefs here work tirelessly to serve their customers from 7 in the morning to 11 at night, and there’s plenty of excellent food to enjoy.
It’s also a very short walk to the beach after your visit, where you can enjoy one of the best places for swimming in Bali.

The food here is excellent, and the setting above the Ayung River is beautiful. We’d visit just for the view, to be fair.

It’s deserved too, we really like this place, the contemporary cuisine with an Asian-edge uses the finest organic, local ingredients and it’s best paired with their extensive wine list.

Does Bali Have Michelin Star Restaurants?
No, Bali does not currently have any Michelin Star Restaurants. It should be noted that this is not a reflection of the quality of food in Bali but rather because the Michelin Guide does not operate its restaurant review business in Indonesia.
We have some hope that it will one day, as the Michelin Guide has recently included several Balinese hotels in their Michelin Key rating system.
And we firmly believe that there are several Michelin-level restaurants in Bali right now.
Which Area Of Bali Has The Best Food?
There are cases to be made for several areas, and here are our picks:
- Ubud – as Ubud has the highest concentration of high-end resorts, it attracts a lot of fabulous fine dining options, there are also some excellent warungs in the town for budget diners
- Canggu – Canggu has the best balance of restaurants in Bali with something to fit every taste and budget.
- Seminyak – Seminyak is the upscale resort town on the coast, and it attracts a lot of great restaurants.
- Uluwatu – Uluwatu is “up and coming”, and it’s more expensive than most of the rest of Bali, but there’s no doubt that you can get some great food in Uluwatu.
Where Do The Rich And Famous Stay In Bali?
The rich and famous tend to stay in the most high-end resorts like Mandapa: A Ritz-Carlton Reserve, the Four Seasons (either at Sayan or Jimbaran), Raffles, Soori, etc. or they will stay in huge private villas with their own security teams, etc.
One thing you can be sure of is that even if you stay in the same place as the rich and famous, they will rarely mix with other guests.
What Should I Not Eat In Bali To Avoid Bali Belly?
Bali Belly is a catch-all term for stomach upsets in Bali, which are mainly (but not always) traveller’s diarrhea. A form of stomach problem caused by exposure to new bacteria.
It doesn’t last very long, but can be very unpleasant while you have it, and other potential forms of Bali Belly, such as food poisoning, viruses, parasites, etc., can be much worse, though they are rate.
You can’t be certain of avoiding this issue anywhere in the world, but the best way to reduce your risk is to always drink bottled water and ensure that you never use tap water, even for brushing your teeth. Food plays a much lesser role in stomach problems than you might think.
