Cleanliness and Maintenance
This is a very clean resort, and it’s pretty well-maintained, too. Sure, if you hunt around, you will find things that are occasionally missed, but none of it will impair your holiday, and you wouldn’t have known at all if you hadn’t looked.
Sleep Quality
We found that the beds were reasonably comfortable here, but despite the rice field location, you’re actually pretty close to town, and there’s very little soundproofing in the rooms.
That doesn’t mean you’ll hear wild parties in your room at all hours, but there is discernible background noise at times. It’s not a deal breaker for us, but light sleepers might prefer something else.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture
The staff, despite this being a 2-star hotel, are very good; they have that warm, friendly appeal that you’d expect from a Balinese team.
They’re also very focused on getting things done, so you have a good holiday. They may not have that professional polish of a 5-star resort, but they’re a credit to their employer.
Check-in/Check-out Experience
Check-in is easy enough, and this isn’t a big resort; you’re not going to be queuing for hours to get into a room behind a tour bus full of tourists from far-off lands.
Checking out is also pretty easy, and we didn’t have any concerns in this department at all.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality
The bathrooms were very nice, but there were definitely some areas for improvement. We felt that the towels looked very worn and could have been replaced.
Also, there were some minor dirt patches in hard-to-reach areas of our bathroom; it wasn’t a real issue, but it could still have been better.
Value For Money
Even at full price, we felt this resort was excellent value for money, but in our experience, it’s pretty easy to get a late deal here, which is even cheaper, and then it’s extraordinarily good value for money.
Yes, there are compromises when you opt for the 2-star rather than the 5-star tree house, but none of them is a deal breaker here.
Food And Beverage Execution
There really isn’t much in the way of food and beverages here; it’s not an issue, you’re within walking distance of plenty of restaurants and warungs.
However, we can’t mark up what doesn’t exist, either.
Location & Immediate Surroundings
This place looks isolated in the pictures, but it’s actually in the middle of Ubud. This is a good thing if you want to explore Bali’s cultural capital, but it can be a bit noisy too.
And if you want to get out into the rest of the island, be warned, traffic can be an absolute nightmare coming into or out of Ubud.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise
The facilities here are as advertised and in good working order. But let’s be fair about this, they barely have any facilities because it’s a 2-star hotel. That’s fine, Ubud’s on the doorstep and it has plenty to do.
Overall “Personality”
No, this place is not as stunning as some of the 5-star treehouses in town, but if you’re backpacking through on a budget and want most of that experience without the several hundred dollar price tag, this does a fabulous job.
Budget holidaymakers will be talking about this for the years to come.

Grun Ubud Tree House Studio is a very nice spot, and while it’s not a luxury hotel with a ton of stuff to do, it doesn’t need to be.
It looks great, and it’s right next to Ubud. You can walk out of your front door, and there are plenty of things to see and do. And a great restaurant scene with the best Balinese Warungs on the island.

Yes, this resort welcomes children of any age and children under the age of 6 may stay for free when checking in with their parents or guardian.
They cannot, however, provide any kind of cots or extra beds, and there are no babysitting or kids’ club services available at this resort.
Overall, we suspect that younger children might get bored here after a day or two.

Grun Ubud Tree House Studio may not be quite as luxurious as some of the other tree houses in Bali, but the prices here are unbeatable, and in our experience, if you can get a last-minute deal at this resort, it’s ridiculously cheap.
If you want a beautiful jungle setting, some home comforts and plenty of outdoor space to enjoy, we suspect that you’ll very much enjoy a stay here.
