Cleanliness and Maintenance
We thought that the resort’s cleaning team did an exceptional job, and everything we moved to try and encounter a spot they’d missed proved how exceptional they are.
However, the maintenance team, while doing a good job, has missed the occasional thing, and there was a small leak in our room, nothing major, but enough to deduct a point here; it was resolved after a short period of time when we reported it.
Sleep Quality
The beds are extremely comfortable, and the mattresses were neither too soft nor too hard for our tastes. The pillows were really good, and even the one side-sleeper of the group enjoyed using them.
The rooms are dark, well-aired and noiseproofed, though there’s not much noise in the immediate vicinity anyway. You’ll get a great night’s sleep here.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture
The staff here are excellent, and they typify the warm, pleasant hospitality culture of the island. You’re not going to find yourself wanting for any lack of care at this resort.
We also felt that they regularly took the initiative to go the extra mile, and we were really impressed with the customer experience.
Check-in/Check-out Experience
It’s always easy to check in at a villa complex unless it’s absolutely massive. The aim is to facilitate your arrival in your villa as quickly as possible after you arrive, and they generally deliver on that objective.
However, as with many villa complexes, they can’t store your bags after check-out easily. So, do be prepared to move on at that point.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality
We thought that the bathrooms were just lovely. The sunken jacuzzi was a fabulous touch, and the towels and toiletries are first-rate.
Value For Money
Our team spent some time debating this, as The Ubud Villa Resort and Spa walks the line between great value for money and excellent.
In the end, we opted to keep it at great, but we don’t think anyone is going to feel anything other than happy with what they pay for this place.
Food And Beverage Execution
Angkul Restaurant delivers excellent breakfasts with a great variety of choices each day, and that’s really important to set you up for the day.
In addition, their offerings for lunch and dinner are very good and while not quite fine dining, you would definitely want to eat here during your stay.
Location & Immediate Surroundings
Ubud is an amazing place. It’s transformed from a hippy backwater to a major centre of Balinese culture in the last few years, and there’s so much to see and do here.
It also has excellent food and drink options. However, there is one downside: the popularity of Ubud can sometimes lead to crowds at popular spots, and the traffic can be really bad.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise
While we’d always like more facilities in this price bracket, we can’t fault this villa complex for having far more than the usual amenities for Ubud.
We also felt that everything was as advertised and kept in very good condition.
Overall “Personality”
The Ubud Village Resort & Spa screams luxury and Bali. We felt that if this is your first taste of Balinese villa living, it would be very unlikely to be your last.
Anyone who stays here is going to be raving about their good time for years to come; it has personality to spare.

However, kids above the age of 13 are charged as adults for billing purposes, which is quite generous, but there are some better deals out there.
Cots are supplied free, but if you need an extra bed, it’s quite steep at 850,000 IDR per night, per person.
