When you’re charging this much per night, everything has to be perfect and at Capella, it really is. Everything in the tent is spotless, everything around it is as spotless as its possible to be in the outdoors too.
The maintenance team are next level and you’ll find that everything is well serviced and maintained and trouble free throughout your stay.
Sleep Quality
The tents are far enough away from any traffic that there’s no noise in them except the gentle sounds of Balinese nature.
The beds, mattresses and pillows are truly world class and it’s inconceivable that most people are going to have anything but an incredible night’s sleep here.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture
The staff is absolutely incredible at Capella and the quality of service ranks up with the best hotels on Earth.
Nothing is too much trouble and the staff will take the time to know your needs and to share insight into the local culture and the island as a whole.
Check-in/Check-out Experience
With a small boutique resort, check-in is always pretty easy and it is at Capella Ubud, you’re not likely to face much in the way of a queue before the minor administrative moments are completed.
And check-out is equally problem free, they can also store luggage if you need them to before your flight.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality
The bathrooms are fabulous, large with exceptional features and first rate water pressure. The towels are luxurious and the supplied toiletries are best in class.
We’d come back to Capella just to experience the bathrooms again.
Value For Money
$1,350 USD a night is serious money and while we don’t feel that Capella is expensive exactly, we’d be hard pushed to give living in a tent for this kind of money anything more than an average value for money rating.
Food And Beverage Execution
The food is incredible and the chef makes an effort to speak to you and to tailor your meals to your tastes.
The drinks are equally exceptional and we’re glad that their restaurants are open to non-guests, because we will be going back to try them again.
Location & Immediate Surroundings
The location is nice in terms of scenery and solitude but it’s a bit farther out from Ubud center than we’d like and that means you’re going to need transportation to get anywhere of interest.
That’s not an issue, Grab and Gojek drivers are plentiful in this area.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise
While we felt that Capella offered excellent facilities for a campsite, the scale of things does put hard limits on how much they can offer and at this price, we’d really like as much stuff to do as you can fit in the area.
Overall “Personality”
There’s no doubt that this is one of the most memorable hotels in Bali. You’re never going to forget spending a night in a tent at Capella and that’s one of the reasons we’re happy to recommend it to anyone who is interested in it.

Capella is unique and that’s a good thing. You’re going to find that a night spent here is relaxing and wonderful.
Sure, it’s not cheap, but it’s most definitely not a ripoff, this kind of luxury just isn’t cheap. Copper bathtubs, private saltwater pools, staff that celebrate and share their culture and more.
We’d recommend Capella to anyone who is interested in staying there as long as they meet the age requirement for their children.

Is Capella Family Friendly?
Yes, Capella Ubud welcomes families to stay in its properties. However, the resort wishes to stress the fact that because of the nature of the terrain and that many of the camp’s amenities are above the treeline, it is not suitable for children below the age of six.
They say it’s simply not a safe place for the smallest campers and that it’s best to wait until they are a little older.
While Capella doesn’t have any amenities specifically aimed at children, their Capella Culturists can curate Family Adventures for a small additional fee.
