The Elysian Villas are named after paradise or heaven (Elysian), and thus, they’re shooting for the moon when it comes to the guest experience.
Of course, Seminyak is a popular tourist town on the paradise island of Bali, so they might actually be able to deliver.
And our team was curious to find out, so they packed their overnight bags, grabbed their laptops and went a-reviewing, and this is what they learned at the Elysian Villas Resort, Seminyak, Bali.

Cleanliness and Maintenance
This is a very nice resort with an emphasis on cleanliness, but there are growing signs of age around the edges that the maintenance team hasn’t dealt with.
We feel that this matters in luxury villa accommodation more than it does in hotels; you want everything to feel brand new.

Sleep Quality
You’ll get a good night’s sleep at The Elysian, but there were small details that weren’t entirely up to snuff, with some light staining on the bedsheets when we arrived (they were immediately replaced).
There’s also some noise leak at night, but it wasn’t enough to be annoying, though a light sleeper might not agree.

Staff Attitude And Service Culture
The staff are very good and very proactive at meeting your needs; they’re always somewhere around, trying not to be noticed, ensuring that everything is just so.
We were impressed with their attitude and think the service culture at this spot is very good.

Check-in/Check-out Experience
Villa complexes are always very easy to check into, and The Elysian is no exception. That’s because they don’t tend to see high volumes of guests, so they can focus on ensuring that your arrival is smooth and easy.
Check out is also similarly painless, and we liked that it was easy to get transport from here with our bags.

Bathroom Quality & Functionality
The bathrooms are functional and comfortable enough, though we did notice some real signs of aging with some of the fixtures and fittings.
We liked the toiletries well enough, but felt that the towels could have used a bit of upgrading. Overall, they’re OK.

Value For Money
You have a stupid number of options for places to stay in Bali in this price bracket, and really we’d say that The Elysian was good value for money, but nothing more.,
We’d be certain that you want what this villa complex has to offer before you book, or you might want to hunt around for something that suits you better.

Food And Beverage Execution
The food is definitely better than average, and we’d probably visit the on-site restaurant if we were in the area again.
We don’t think we’d travel across Bali for the food, mind you, it’s very good, but not the best in class.

Location & Immediate Surroundings
You can’t go wrong with Seminyak, it’s a safe and popular area with plenty to see and do. It’s also a great hub for exploring other parts of Bali including Kuta, Jimbaran, Canggu, Ubud and even Sanur.

Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise
The facilities and amenities are exactly as advertised, and they are neither outstanding nor terrible. Overall, we just wish that they had a few more of them.

Overall “Personality”
We felt that The Elysian Villas Resort was attractive, but it wasn’t the “heaven” that the “Elysian” aspires to be. It’s a genuinely chilled spot with some nice touches, but we can’t imagine remembering its name in a few years’ time.
Summary: Our Overview Of The Elysian Villas Resort
The Elysian Villas Resort is very nice, but there are a lot of options in this price bracket, and while we’d be happy to recommend staying here, you should narrow down what it is you want, exactly, before you book any hotel at this price point in Bali.
Grading: Very Good/Happy to Return
FAQs
Is The Elysian Villas Resort Family Friendly?
Officially, The Elysian Villas Resort is family-friendly. However, beyond offering babysitting services (for a fee) this resort really has very little to keep children entertained.
In our experience, the guests were all adults in couples or groups of friends, so the odds of your kids making friends here seem to be a touch remote, too.
Overall, while this isn’t a bad place to spend a family holiday in Bali, we can think of plenty of resorts with better facilities for kids than this one.
Final Thoughts On The Elysian Villas Resort
We love the ambition of comparing your hotel to heaven, though we also feel that any property is bound to fall a little short in that comparison.
However, there’s no doubt that these villas are very nice and they offer a fabulous private space for a family or group of friends to enjoy a little luxury near the beach in Seminyak.
We’d be happy to recommend staying here, though we would note that this price bracket has a fair amount of competition, and there are other options worth reviewing before you book.
