When you book a 5-star hotel, there are certain expectations you have with regards to service, comfort, etc., so it’s hard for hotels in this bracket to really distinguish themselves from each other.
One way to go is to employ great architecture, and the Adiwana Unagi Suites draw on the local Balinese style to create something truly unique.
But are good looks enough to choose the Adiwana Unagi Suites over the pack of other options in Ubud? We went to take a look for ourselves, and this is what we found.

Cleanliness and Maintenance

The cleaning and maintenance staff here do a sterling job, and there’s certainly not much more they can do to make the place amazing.
However, when you’re on the edge of the jungle and the ricefields, there’s also a propensity for Mother Nature to sneak in while you’re not looking. So, bugs, lizards, etc., are a thing you’re likely to have to deal with here.
Sleep Quality

Mostly, this resort is very quiet and peaceful, which is good because when it’s not, noise carries into the room really, really easily.
Other than that, the rooms are very comfortable with nice, big beds, good air conditioning, etc., and you will get a good night’s sleep.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture

We found the staff to be every bit as good as we expected at a 5-star resort in Ubud, and they were absolutely wonderful when it came to resolving small issues that we raised.
They also know the local area very well and were happy to make recommendations and provide input to help us improve our overall stay in Ubud.
Check-in/Check-out Experience

This isn’t a particularly big place, so you will be in your rooms very quickly after arriving, and as you’d expect, they will give you help to get your bags to and from the room.
Checking out is also easy, and getting onward transport is very easy because of the proximity to Ubud.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality

We liked the bathrooms here very much and found that they had good water pressure and loads of hot water, which is what we want.
However, we weren’t hugely impressed with the toiletries, and the towels were only “OK”.
Value For Money

There’s a lot of competition for your dime in Ubud, and that means we rarely award an excellent value for money rating here, but the Adiwana Unagi Suites is very good value.
We felt that they supplied more than enough to make it feel like an investment in a good time rather than a bill that had to be paid.
Food And Beverage Execution

Ely’s Kitchen is a very well-known restaurant in Ubud, and as you might expect, that means the food is incredible, given how high the bar is to get noticed in this town.
You are going to be very happy with the in-house dining experience and may even decide to eat in the hotel all the time while you’re here.
Location & Immediate Surroundings

Ubud is a brilliant place to visit; however, this hotel is not in the centre, and if you want to walk to the main attractions in town, it’s about 25 minutes on broken sidewalks with crazy local traffic.
Also, speaking of traffic, because this town is popular, many attractions are crowded, and the roads can be gridlocked, particularly at peak periods of the day.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise

We felt that this hotel had everything that their marketing material said would be available to us and that it was of a high quality.
However, at this price point, we could always use a little more.
Overall “Personality”

This is an absolutely stunning property that will look great on your Instagram and in your memory for years to come.
And they have the chops to back up the aesthetics, this is a fabulous resort.
Summary: Our Overview Of Adiwana Unagi Suites

We loved staying here, and we’d love to come back again. In fact, we almost certainly will come back to Ely’s Kitchen soon.
We’d be happy to recommend this place to absolutely anyone who wanted to stay here.
Grading: Excellent
FAQs
Is Adiwana Unagi Suites Family Friendly?

Yes, Adiwana Unagi Suites is family-friendly in that children of any age are welcome to stay with their parents or guardians.
However, their pricing policy for children is opaque and varies by room and season, which is not great, and we’d urge you to check carefully what the small print looks like before you book a room.
And while they offer a free cot to little ones, if you need an extra bed, it’s an incredible 1,200,000 IDR per night, which is one of the highest rates we’ve ever seen at a hotel in Bali.
Finally, we’d also note that they have no special children’s facilities and no kids’ club or babysitting services.
Final Thoughts On Adiwana Unagi Suites

Adiwana Unagi Suites is simply gorgeous, and while it’s not a perfect resort, it’s a very good one, and we had a great time staying here.
We’d be happy to recommend it to anyone who was interested in it, with the proviso that it’s probably not the best choice for young families; other hotels in Ubud offer more for kids.
