Cleanliness and Maintenance
We think the cleaning and maintenance crew here do a great job and that things are in good working order and appear to be as clean as possible.
However, you are out in the rice fields, and that means some of Bali’s natural world is going to intrude on your stay. In particular, if you’re here in the rainy season, you may find mosquitoes plague you in this resort.
Sleep Quality
The beds are wonderful, and the supplied towels, toiletries, etc., are all very good, and the foundations of a solid night’s sleep are all here.
However, the rooms are neither lightproof nor soundproof, and given the noise that comes from the bird scarers in the local fields and other random noises, light sleepers should beware.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture
We found the staff to have that famous Balinese service culture nailed, and they were warm and friendly throughout our stay.
You don’t see the staff as often as you might in other resorts, though, as this place is quite spread out and there’s a clear emphasis on privacy for the guests.
Check-in/Check-out Experience
The check-in experience is as good as you’d expect, and we found we were swiftly welcomed and placed in some transport to get to the part of the resort we were staying in.
The check-out experience was also pretty painless, and there’s no doubt that overall, you won’t be spending much time at the front desk.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality
The bathrooms are very good, and we found that the supplied towels and toiletries helped to elevate the overall experience of using them.
We were also pleased to note that there were no mosquitoes or geckos in the bathrooms, which makes a change from most treehouse-style resorts.

We felt that Grun Canggu was very good value for money. The location is excellent, and there are no other treehouse opportunities here in Canggu, so you really can’t do better than this.
However, there’s a reason that Canggu isn’t full of treehouse-style homes, and it’s that you’re staying in a rice field rather than the jungle.

Unfortunately, there is no restaurant facility at this hotel, and that means you’re going to have to go out to eat and drink.
That’s not a hardship, when you’re staying in Canggu, there is a wealth of restaurants to choose from, and most of them are very good, indeed.
Location & Immediate Surroundings
It’s Canggu, the most popular spot in Bali and for good reason. There’s so much to see and do nearby that you’ll never get bored.
It also offers great beach access, the best beach club in the world (FINNS) and much more besides. You can also relatively easily (traffic notwithstanding) access the rest of the island from here.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise
The facilities and amenities are all as promised, however, there really aren’t very many of them and while the rooms are very well appointed. We’d like just a little more to do while we’re in the resort.
Overall “Personality”
This place is gorgeous and we believe that most people would love to stay here and will be talking about it with friends and family when they get home.
It certainly looks great on your Instagram feed, which is always a plus.
