Hideaway Glamping is one of the most unusual properties that we’ve ever reviewed, not least because you can only book one of the three tents here directly with the property.
It’s in the Bangli Regency near Kintamani, and that means there’s a distinct disadvantage to staying here at certain times of the year. This area of Bali gets swarmed with huge clouds of flies, so make sure to check the season before you book.
Our team opted to make two visits here, one during fly time and one without, to give a fair and balanced opinion on this glamping destination.

There’s no doubt that despite its challenges, this remains one of the best places to go glamping in Bali. Some of our other favourite glamping parks include Sandat Glamping and Kubah Bali.
Cleanliness and Maintenance
We found that they did a good job of cleaning this place (though in tents, things never stay clean that long – that’s the great outdoors at play).
But the maintenance left something to be desired, and we had to complain about fixtures and fittings to get them in working order.
Sleep Quality
We had to have the bed changed as the sheets didn’t seem clean on our arrival, but after that, we found that it was easy to get a decent night’s sleep.
This area is very quiet, and there will be nothing to wake you while you rest. However, there is always the outside chance of an encounter with Bali’s wildlife while you sleep.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture
The staff are very nice, and they have that Balinese warmth and charm that you’d expect from anywhere on the island.
However, this is a fairly remote spot, and there’s no doubt that sometimes that the will outpaces the skill with the staff here.
Check-in/Check-out Experience
The check-in was just fine, and we found ourselves in a tent relatively quickly. However, there’s not very much in the way of tents at this resort, so that’s not surprising.
Checking out is also pretty straightforward, but make sure to have your onward transport arranged, as this is not the sort of place to get easy Grab or Gojek service.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality
This is a fairly remote spot, so you can expect that the water heater only has the capacity for one shower before it needs a moment (or ten) to reheat for the next user.
The fixtures and fittings are not great, though the towels are fine and the bathrobes are very nice.
Value For Money
We’d say that this resort is good, but not great value for money, and most of that value is in the location rather than in the resort itself.
This is a place that could require a little work put in to make it really stand out from its competitors.
Food And Beverage Execution
We really enjoyed the food and thought it was above average for a glamping site in the middle of nowhere.
No, it’s not fine dining, nor does it make any attempt to pretend that it is, but yes, we’d probably pop in just to eat if we were in the neighbourhood (which we won’t be, this place really is in the middle of nowhere).
Location & Immediate Surroundings
The countryside here is stunning, and there’s no doubt that waking up to the view from this glamping site is worth all the minor frustrations of both getting here and staying here.
It’s super safe, and you can enjoy long walks in nature. However, if you want to go somewhere else, you need transportation; there’s very little within walking distance.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise
The facilities and amenities are as promised, but there really aren’t very many of them, and given the location, we think they could do a bit more.
Overall “Personality”
The overall feel of this place is awesome, and we think most people will remember staying here for a long time after they depart.
And we think most people will remember it positively, though we can also understand why some might not.

Hideaway Glamping is not perfect, and if you need something where everything functions as it should, you should probably skip it.
However, if you feel that you’re the target audience and it’s not fly season in Bangli at that point, you will probably have a great time here. We did.

Is Hideaway Glamping Family Friendly?
Yes, Hideaway Gamping is family-friendly. Children of all ages are welcome to check in with their parents or guardians.
However, there are no child-specific facilities available at this site, and there are no kids’ menus, clubs, babysitting services, etc.
It is very important to understand that during certain times of the year, Kintamani can be plagued by flies; if you visit at this time, children may find it fairly unpleasant.
Final Thoughts On Hideaway Glamping
We need to be blunt about this. From our perspective, there are two versions of this resort – the first in the ordinary season, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend staying here at that point.
And the second is when the flies come out to play in Kintamani, and then, we wouldn’t recommend going anywhere near this place. There is simply no escaping how unpleasant this season is going to be for anyone who doesn’t love flies (and that’s most of us, right?)
So, do your research, and we’d recommend avoiding this place in January and February entirely when the flies are at their peak.
