The Michelin Guide has not traditionally operated in Indonesia, but this year, they launched their hotel guide and the archipelago is included, and Lost Lindberg is one of a small handful of select properties to win a “Michelin Key” (as with the stars, you can win a maximum of 3 keys).
The hotel has a playful design which sees a series of treehouse-like structures all joined together by walkways above the ground. There are only 8 rooms in total at this site.

Cleanliness and Maintenance
This is a top-quality resort, and the attention to detail and cleanliness are really first-rate. We can’t imagine finding anything that hasn’t been properly cleaned or maintained here.
The staff seem to be on top of everything all the time; we suspect this is easier to do when the place is as small and focused as this one.
Sleep Quality
The rooms are brand new, the beds are luxurious, and there’s absolutely no noise here except for the gentle sound of Balinese nature. You’re going to get a great night’s sleep.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture
Everyone here will know your name and greet you with a bright smile and a Balinese fist bump. The service culture is amazing, and their attention to detail is beyond brilliant. Wait until you get your little arrival kits in your room, you’ll know what we mean.
Check-in/Check-out Experience
This place is so small that it would be impossible for check-in to be anything other than a truly fluid process. It’s so easy.
And while you probably won’t want to store luggage after check out due to where this hotel is, you can if you need to.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality
The bathrooms are great, and the water pressure is good for Bali, and they are of a very decent size, too. The toiletries are excellent and vibe with the hotel’s overall eco-friendly vibe.
Value For Money
It’s not the cheapest hotel on the island, but we do feel that if you’re their target guest that you’re going to find that this is spectacular value for money.
But the location, plant-based catering, social vibe, etc., do mean this place isn’t for everyone.
Food And Beverage Execution
This place is entirely plant-based, and while we have no issue with lifestyle choices, we do think that a resort or hotel ought to support everyone’s way of eating.
If you want to go meat and dairy-free for a week, you’ll be very happy, and the focus on Indonesian flavours is very good.
Location & Immediate Surroundings
This resort is in the middle of nowhere. That has its advantages in beautiful views and peace and quiet.
However, it comes at the price of a very long drive from the airport, and we suspect that’s going to put a lot of people off.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise
The promised facilities and amenities are all present, and overall, they’re very nice. However, given the out-of-the-way location, we’d like a bit more to do, particularly if you’re opting for a long stay.
Overall “Personality”
It would be hard to give the Lost Lindberg anything other than top marks for personality; it’s one of the most incredible hotels that we’ve ever seen from a looks perspective, and all the little touches support that.
We can see why Michelin gave it a “key”; this is a hotel that you simply will never forget and for all the right reasons.

We can happily recommend Lost Lindenberg for those who don’t mind a bit of a drive to get to a relaxed, quiet and isolated but beautiful resort with a genuinely social vibe and with a complete focus on plant-based dining.
Otherwise, while this place really is amazing, it might not be quite the right choice for your holiday.

Is Lost Lindenberg Family Friendly?
Yes, Lost Lindenberg is family-friendly, and all ages are welcome at this property, though there are no specific amenities for kids, and you might feel that a treetop resort is not ideal for the youngest children, either.
However, your kids can enjoy tours of the local area, surfing, a bonfire on the beach, etc., which is going to be a lot of fun for kids of a certain mindset and vibe. There’s also a shallow area in the pool, which is safe for small children to use.
Final Thoughts On Lost Lindenberg
We can see why the Michelin Guide loved Lost Lindenberg. It’s a lovely place tucked away, far from the crowds on the island.
However, it has a very “communal” feel to it, so if you prefer to stay away from other people, this isn’t going to work for you, and it’s also a pretty long drive from Denpasar Airport.
We’d also note that because it has stairs to access almost everything in the elevated sections (most of the hotel), this is not going to work for anyone with a wheelchair.
