The beach at Sanur is quite lovely, and it’s one of the most walkable spots in Bali with an excellent boardwalk running the length of the sand.
It’s our favourite spot on the island for a bit of sunrise watching, and while Sanur is often referred to as “sleepy” in out-of-date blogs and holiday brochures, the area is also quite busy with plenty to do.

Cleanliness and Maintenance
It’s always hard to keep villas and bungalows spotless, and they do a very good job of things at Tandjung Sari Hotel, but you can move things around and occasionally find dust that’s been missed.
The maintenance seems to be pretty good for a resort of its age, though, and everything works flawlessly.
Sleep Quality
We like Sanur because it’s quiet, but there’s no doubt that the rooms here don’t allow any noise to leak into your bedroom, nor are there any light leaks to wake you.
We thought the beds were big and comfortable with good mattresses and pillows. The ventilation was up to snuff, too.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture
This is Bali, and the service at upscale hotels is almost always world-class, and Tandjung Sari is no exception.
You’ll find that everyone here is all about making sure you have an excellent experience, and they are empowered to make it so.
Check-in/Check-out Experience
We thought the check-in process was adequate, and given that it’s not a big resort, you’re not going to spend long waiting around to get to your room.
They will be happy to keep an eye on your bags after check out if you need them to before you move on from Sanur.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality
The bathrooms are lovely. They are spacious and well-appointed, and you won’t have any problems enjoying a good wash in the morning (or any other time of day).
The toiletries provided were very good, and the towels were excellent.
Value For Money
We felt that this resort was adequate value for money, it’s a bit on the pricey side for a 4-star hotel, but it’s clearly walking the borderline of 5 stars, in reality.
Food And Beverage Execution
The onsite restaurant is more than good enough, and we enjoyed eating there on occasions beyond breakfast.
However, we didn’t feel that it was outstanding and given how much competition there is in Bali’s culinary world, we doubt you’d come back to this resort just for the food.
Location & Immediate Surroundings
You can’t go wrong with the location of this hotel, it’s in the centre of Sanur, with easy access to the beach, and it’s within walking distance of most of the local attractions.
Sanur is also not far from the other beach towns, Bali’s capital, Denpasar or Ubud, which means it’s a good base to explore from. And like all of Bali, it’s a very safe place to be.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise
The facilities and amenities at this resort certainly match the marketing promise, and they are all at least decent. However, there just aren’t very many of them.
Overall “Personality”
This is a very pretty resort, and you’ll certainly get some lovely photographs for your social media, but we didn’t feel that it had the kind of impact that would make it spring to mind in a decade’s time.
You’ll have a great time here, but it’s Bali you will remember rather than the hotel.

We enjoyed our stay at Tandjung Sari Hotel, and we felt that it was an excellent base to really get out and explore this side of the island.
However, there’s not very much to do at the resort itself, and that might be frustrating if you’re one of those travellers who prefer to spend most of their time in the hotel.
Overall, we would be happy to recommend Tandjung Sari Hotel to most travellers in Sanur seeking a relaxing break or looking to get out and about in the area.

However, it is a bit short on facilities, and if you want somewhere that you can spend a lot of time in the resort, it might get a little boring after a while.
Overall, though, we’d be happy to recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a relaxing break with an ocean view in Sanur.
