Blu-Zea Resort by Double Six Review, Seminyak, Bali: A Resort With Some Truly Unique Facilities

It’s not often, in Bali at least, that you get to stay at a hotel that built its own beach. This is a good thing because, by law, no natural beach in Bali can be “private”, and that means your resort must leave its beach open to the public.

This beach, on the other hand, is not governed by that law, so it’s exclusive to guests of the Blu-Zea Resort. That’s pretty cool, right? And this hotel has some other unique features that really help to set it apart from all the competition in Seminyak.

So, our review team couldn’t wait to get out and discover what was in store for them at Blu-Zea Resort by Double Six in Seminyak, and this is what they experienced there.

Our In-Depth Assessment Of Blu-Zea Resort by Double Six

Cleanliness and Maintenance

This is a well-designed resort, but there are certainly some hard-to-reach spots that the cleaning team seem to have missed. It’s nothing significant, and we aren’t wary of hygiene here; it’s just that the small touches matter.

The maintenance team seems to be on top of the important stuff, too, though there is the occasional space that has seen better days.

Rating:

Sleep Quality

We found the bedrooms to be nicely ventilated, and we didn’t find any sound or light leaks, though there are no blackout curtains in place.

We also thought the beds were a decent size and that all the linens, mattresses and pillows were there to provide a good night’s sleep.

Rating:

Staff Attitude And Service Culture

There’s nothing 4-star about the service at this resort; we assume they share a training team with the Double Six (a 5-star resort elsewhere in Seminyak), and certainly, they’re of a similar standard.

Think Balinese warmth and care, combined with professionalism and a sense of ownership.

Rating:

Check-in/Check-out Experience

The check-in process hasn’t changed much in most of this industry for decades, and it’s fairly predictable. You won’t be waiting forever to get in your room, and check-out is very easy, indeed.

Rating:

Bathroom Quality & Functionality

The bathrooms are nice enough, the equivalent of what we’d expect in most bathrooms at home, the facilities are spacious, and the water pressure is OK.

The toiletries are decent enoug,h and the towels are bigger than average for Bali.

Rating:

Value For Money

We feel that this hotel is exceptional value for money. We also like their “departure lounge” which is a space designed for guests who need to pass some time before heading to the airport, without them needing to spend a lot of money on extending their stay in their room.

It’s actually something we’d like to see at more hotels; we like it that much.

Rating:

Food And Beverage Execution

The food and beverage execution is entirely competent. No, we wouldn’t come back here just for the food and drinks, but we did take a lot of photos of what we had here, and it was all tasty enough.

Rating:

Location & Immediate Surroundings

You’ve got a central Seminyak location for a song at Blue-Zea. It’s one of the island’s most popular beach towns for good reasons – it’s safe, there’s nightlife, shopping, dining, and much more.

It’s also a brilliant hub for exploring the rest of Bali and you’re not that far from most of the other major tourist hotspots on the island.

Rating:

Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise

The facilities and amenities at this hotel are as advertised, and for the price, they’re very good, but they don’t quite stretch into “blow you away” territory, either.

Rating:

Overall “Personality”

This hotel has a lot of charm and unique touches. No, it’s not got that ultra-luxury vibe going on, but it has created its own niche, and that’s really awesome.

It shows you don’t need 5-stars to create an experience that people will remember fondly in the years to come, you just need a sense of imagination, like they had here.

FAQs

Is Blu-Zea Resort by Double Six Family Friendly?

Yes! In fact, Blu-Zea Resort is exceptionally family-friendly for a four-star resort in Seminyak. Not only are they happy to let kids stay free and to provide cots in the room if needed, but they also have a dedicated Kids’ Corner.

This isn’t quite a fully-featured Kids’ Club, but it’s not far off and is manned by trained childminders to ensure your kids can enjoy fun activities under safe, adult supervision.

There’s also an awesome pool, a cinema and a tennis court to enjoy! We’d say that most families are going to have a great time at this resort.

Final Thoughts On Blu-Zea Resort by Double Six

We can’t praise Blu-Zea Resort by Double Six enough for its unique take on the resort experience. The pool area is amazing, and the private beach is a clever way to deliver what most hotels promise and can’t deliver in Bali.

We’re also fans of “The Departure Lounge”, which is a space tailored to make whiling away the hours before you flight fun and enjoyable without having to pay for an extra half day or full day in the hotel itself.

Our team would recommend Blu-Zea Resort by Double Six to almost anyone staying in Seminyak, looking for something a bit different, and especially to families.
