We felt that this was one of the best treehouse properties in Bali.
Cleanliness and Maintenance
It’s in the middle of the jungle, and that means, as the hotel warns you, it’s going to introduce you to some of the local wildlife.
Caterpillars, mosquitoes, ants, etc., are everywhere, and some of them end up in your room; this is not the fault of an excellent cleaning and maintenance team. It’s just how it is.
Sleep Quality
Remember the bugs we told you about? Well, they were accompanied by a lot of geckos and tokay lizards. Now, again, this isn’t a big deal, and they’re not dangerous.
But if you don’t like lizards? You’re going to have a rough night’s sleep all the same. Otherwise, the rooms are comfortable, well-appointed and supremely well-aired.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture
As with most high-end Balinese properties, the staff here are genuinely fabulous. They are warm, kind and caring, and they really do want you to have an amazing holiday.
They’ve also been empowered to resolve most issues that you encounter rather than running things up the chain of command. That’s always good here on the island.
Check-in/Check-out Experience
The check-in experience, as you’d expect at a small resort, is absolutely painless, and you’re in your villa almost immediately after you arrive.
Check out is also super easy, and unless you have a big tab to pay, you should be gone as soon as you hand over your keys.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality
The bathrooms are lovely, but once again, those pesky geckos may be lurking under things like towels and cups. They don’t do any harm, though we don’t recommend letting them poop on your toothbrush, but they can be a bit of a surprise.
Otherwise, we were very happy with the bathroom facilities overall, and they’re better than our own at home.
Value For Money
We’d put Veluvana at above average value for money, while you do have many options of resorts in this price range, there are very few as unique as this one.
It would score excellent if it weren’t for the health and safety instructions that are needed to survive a night in each villa.
Food And Beverage Execution
The food here is decent hotel food; we’ve never been all that keen on floating breakfasts, mind you. They may look great on social media, but they tend to end up with your breakfast being a bit on the soggy side.
However, we wouldn’t come racing back just to eat here, either. There are lots of great options in Bali for food and drink.
Location & Immediate Surroundings
Sidemen is beautiful, and it’s safe. So, you’ll be fine to go for long country walks or into the village and enjoy the silversmithing.
But, there’s not an awful lot else in this area, and you will need transportation if you want to explore further afield.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise
The villas themselves are very well appointed, but overall, this resort doesn’t really have very much in the way of amenities. That’s not the end of the world if you want a quiet break, but can be frustrating if you want a bit of entertainment on hand.
Overall “Personality”
This place is gorgeous, and given that each villa has its own unique design, you feel like you’re enjoying a one-of-a-kind experience by holidaying here.
Veluvana Bali Tree House is the kind of place we picture when we picture excellence in this category, truly memorable.

No, Velulvana Bali Tree House is not a family-friendly resort. Firstly, because of the open nature of the bamboo structures here, it would be super easy for children to fall and seriously injure themselves.
Secondly, they promote this place as an adults-only getaway and specifically bar children from entry in their advertising materials.
However, if you have adult children, they would be permitted to stay in the resort with you.

Veluvana Bali Tree House is absolutely gorgeous to look at, and there’s no doubt that you can make special memories here.
However, it’s not the safest place to stay, and you do need to read up on the safety instructions before you book or occupy your villa. Some of the features here, such as the hammocks or doors, have weight or other limitations placed on them.
