Private Jet Villa Review, Uluwatu, Bali: Bali’s Most Unique Residence?

If you’re dreaming of a holiday in a Boeing 737 dangling on a cliff-edge in Uluwatu, then you may be in luck, assuming you have a big wedge of cash to pay for the privilege.

Private Jet Villa in Uluwatu has to be the island’s most unusual residence, but the question is, does that novelty translate into an incredible experience, because at a cost of over $3,500 USD a night, this is also one of Bali’s most expensive stays.

So, our team went to find out if they could live the Kardashian lifestyle at the Private Jet Villa, and this is what they discovered during their stay.

Cleanliness and Maintenance

The interior floors were downright shoddy, and the external decking wasn’t much better. We’d go so far as to say that they were a genuine hazard to human health.

Other than that, things are mainly clean and well-maintained, though there is a noticeable water leak under the jet, too. We wouldn’t care at $100 a night, but at $3,750 a night? It’s not good enough.

Rating:

Sleep Quality

You’re in the middle of nowhere, and the only people around, so any noise you are subjected to is the noise you’re making.

The blinds close to black out the place effectively, and the beds are very comfortable. The airflow through the room is comfortable, too.

Rating:

Staff Attitude And Service Culture

While we did feel that the staff here were warm and friendly, we felt that the management’s “give us money for everything” attitude had rubbed off on them.

It’s hard to put your finger on these things, but we definitely felt like ATMs at points during our stay rather than customers.

Rating:

Check-in/Check-out Experience

When there’s only one set of guests, you can’t really mess up the check-in process, and we found it to be effective enough.

There’s also the facility to leave bags for storage after check-out.

Rating:

Bathroom Quality & Functionality

The water in the bathroom doesn’t smell right. We think this is due to the shallow water table in Uluwatu and the property pulling directly from it, but it’s unpleasant.

And frankly, a stinking bathroom is also not OK at this kind of nightly price.

Rating:

Value For Money

For $3,750, we expect perfection just for it to feel like decent value for money. Private Jet Villa is so far from being perfect that it’s something of a bad joke.

We can’t imagine anyone being happy that they spent this much money on a night here. We don’t even really understand why anyone would want to sleep in the abandoned hull of a plane. What’s the attraction?

Rating:

Food And Beverage Execution

They won’t let you bring in any outside food or drink, which is an incredible conceit given that it’s a hotel room. We can’t think of any other hotel in Bali where you can’t consume your own stuff in your room.

As for the food and drinks, they supply, they are actually very good, but so overpriced that you will flinch just thinking about it. 5 million IDR for breakfast for 4 people? Nobody could make that seem like value for money in Bali.

Rating:

Location & Immediate Surroundings

Uluwatu is gorgeous, and the clifftop vantage point here is amazing. You can’t beat the view, though the wing of the plane hanging out into the view is annoying.

However, you’re also a long way from anywhere else, and you’re going to need transport to get anywhere of interest.

Rating:

Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise

The amenities are as advertised, but you’re going to have to pay for most of them in addition to the cost of your room. At this price, this place ought to be all-inclusive, but instead, it’s just non-stop price gouging.

Rating:

Overall “Personality”

Well, the one thing we can’t deduct marks for is “personality”. It’s just that in this case, we think that while this hotel is attractive and has an amazing view, when you look back on it in years to come, it won’t be fondly, but in astonishment that they had the cheek to charge this much for the experience you get.

Summary: Our Overview Of Private Jet Villa

This is the very first time that we’ve reviewed a place that scored under 30 on our rating score. Normally, we simply wouldn’t include Private Jet Villa on this site at all. It is not one of Bali’s best hotels.

However, because it’s such a distinct property, we felt that its absence would be noted if we didn’t review it.

It’s just not good enough to command the price tag that it does, in our opinion. There are far too many small flaws, and the constant charges for everything are adding insult to injury.

The only reason we can think of to stay here is to show off that you can afford it, and if you can afford it, there are much better options in Bali than this place.

Total Score:
25/50

Grading: Don’t go, seriously, there’s something wrong with this place

FAQs

Is Private Jet Villa Family Friendly?

No, the Private Jet Villa is not family-friendly. Even though it can host up to four people, the resort does not admit children.

To be fair, this clifftop position is probably not ideal for little ones, nor is the damaged decking, which could hurt or injure a child.

Overall, given that we found this resort to be extraordinarily poor value for money, we’d recommend looking for a family vacation elsewhere. If you have this kind of budget, you can find an amazing stay here in Uluwatu.

Final Thoughts On Private Jet Villa

We confess, we just don’t get it. As one client review said online, “If they could charge you to say hello and goodbye here, they would.”

Private Jet Villa is nice enough, though we question if it could ever be great value at that price tag, but the maintenance isn’t good enough, and they do nickel and dime you for everything.

Would we recommend Private Jet Villa? Only to people with more money than sense, with it burning a hole in their pocket, and a deep-seated urge to sleep in a plane on a cliff edge.
