Astera Resort & Spa Canggu By iNi Vie Hospitality Review, Canggu, Bali: No Kids In The Pool

Don’t get too excited by the basic room rate; it’s for a suite rather than one of the luxury villas at this resort, but there’s still no denying it’s a pretty good price for a pad in Canggu in peak season.

That’s because Canggu is the most popular town in Bali at the moment; it has that wonderful mix of restaurants, beach clubs, beaches, sports, etc. that ensures nobody’s ever bored.

So, we went to see if Astera Resort & Spa was going to ensure your time in Canggu was a ton of fun, and this is what we learned.

This was one of our team’s top 20 picks for stays in Canggu.

Cleanliness and Maintenance

We had some issues with the air conditioning in the room, and while they did give us a fan that helped to keep us cool, we’d prefer just to be able to blast the air conditioning. This is Bali, it gets pretty hot.

Otherwise, the overall experience was good, and the cleaners and maintenance team do a good job of things.

Rating:

Sleep Quality

Despite the air conditioning issues, this spot is pretty quiet, and the airflow in our room was excellent; we were cool and comfortable throughout the night.

The bed linens were very nice, the mattresses were supportive, and the overall sleep experience was very good.

Rating:

Staff Attitude And Service Culture

We felt, and certainly our fellow guests agreed with us during our stay, that the staff here were truly exceptional, even on an island with an incredible service culture; they were a cut above.

We felt that it was their mission in life to ensure we had the best possible experience at this resort, and they pulled it off with aplomb.

Rating:

Check-in/Check-out Experience

The check-in and check-out process is fine; it’s a small resort, so you won’t ever end up caught waiting for hours to get to your room. It’s just not possible.

They can store your bags after check out, too, which is a nice touch if you want to spend more time in Canggu before you move on.

Rating:

Bathroom Quality & Functionality

The bathrooms are absolutely excellent, and they’re big and spacious with superb toiletries and towels provided.

Water pressure can be a challenge in Canggu, but we found it to be consistently strong here, which was lovely.

Rating:

Value For Money

Overall, we’d rate the Astera Resort & Spa as great value for money, sure we would have liked a few more on-site facilities, but overall, it’s hard to beat the price tag and the service culture.

You’re not going to regret paying to stay here at all, and the bill is going to be lower than in many of the other resorts in Canggu.

Rating:

Food And Beverage Execution

The food and drinks are more than good enough for hotel food. You might visit either restaurant if you were passing by this street and were hungry, but we doubt you’d come very far for them, either.

There’s no doubt that the ingredients are fresh and that everything looks pretty good on your Instagram feed.

Rating:

Location & Immediate Surroundings

You just can’t go wrong with staying in Canggu. It’s diverse, hip, and has an excellent mix of everything from small bars to the world’s best beach club.

You’ll also find shops and restaurants, cafes, etc., galore. We love that it’s great for watersports and other activities, and we can’t imagine getting bored during a stay in Canggu.

Rating:

Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise

The facilities and amenities are as advertised, and they’re in very good condition, but there’s not very much in the way of facilities, either.

We’d like just a little more to do in the resort, if we could change one thing about the Astera.

Rating:

Overall “Personality”

This is a nice resort, but we don’t think it’s a hugely memorable resort. It has a pleasant vibe and good quality, but there’s nothing that really sticks in our minds about it, a few weeks after our stay.

Summary: Our Overview Of Astera Resort & Spa Canggu By iNi Vie Hospitality

Astera Resort & Spa Canggu is one of a legion of iNi Vie properties in Bali, but they’re not all the same (iNi Vie is more of a shared marketing entity than a hotel group like Hilton or Marriott).

This one is very good, and we very much enjoyed our stay. We’d like a bit more to do on the site, but otherwise, we’d recommend it to anyone.

Total Score:
39/50

Grading: Very Good/Happy to Return

Other great properties in this area include COMO Uma Canggu and Teratai Villa Canggu.

FAQs

Is Astera Resort & Spa Canggu By iNi Vie Hospitality Family-Friendly?

Yes, the Astera Resort & Spa Canggu by iNi Vie is somewhat child-friendly. They have suites and villas that can accommodate children staying with their parents.

However, one thing we must stress is that not only do they not offer very much in the way of child-specific facilities, but the resort’s outdoor pool is strictly off limits to kids.

So, overall, we’d say that if you want to travel as a family, there are probably better options in Canggu than this one.

Final Thoughts On Astera Resort & Spa Canggu By iNi Vie Hospitality

Overall, we had a very pleasant stay at Astera Resort & Spa Canggu. It’s in a great location, and it’s reasonably priced.

However, there’s also not that much to do at the hotel itself, so you’ll probably want to use it to explore the area and Bali rather than spend all your time in the resort.

Overall, we’d recommend this hotel to most people looking for a decent value stay in Canggu, but would caution that the pool is for adults only, no children allowed.
