Cleanliness and Maintenance
They work very hard to try and ensure that this property is kept clean and well-maintained, but there’s no doubt that jungle properties are a serious challenge in this respect.
No matter how much work they do, the moment that they stop, the jungle comes marching back, insects, lizards, leaf litter, etc. There’s nothing the property can do about it, but you should be aware of it before you book.
Sleep Quality
The rooms are quiet and well-appointed with nice beds with good mattresses, bedding, pillows, etc., and there’s good ventilation in the room too.
However, the AC in one of our rooms gave up the ghost as we were trying to get to bed, and it took the on-site team quite some time to fix it, which wasn’t ideal.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture
We felt that the staff at Bidadari Private Villas & Retreat were excellent and that they exuded the kind of warmth that the Balinese are famous for.
Our experience also suggests that they’ve been empowered to solve issues and problems rathe rather than move them around the food chain.
Check-in/Check-out Experience
The check-in process was painless, and we found ourselves swiftly in our villa with a fabulous view over the jungle.
Checking out was also pain-free, and it being Ubud, there’s no problem getting a Grab or Gojek to move on when you’re ready.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality
The bathrooms were very nice, and most importantly, there was plenty of hot water and good water pressure, which isn’t always the case in Ubud’s hotels.
The towels were only OK, though, and we’d have liked something a bit softer, and the provided toiletries were not the best, either.
Value For Money
The team felt that Bidadari Private Villas were very good value for money, but wanted to stress how many properties in Ubud operate in this price bracket.
So, you can be very particular about what the ideal property is for you, and shopping around before you book is highly recommended.
Food And Beverage Execution
The room service facility was adequate, but really, without an on-site restaurant, we feel that you’re a bit lacking as a property, particularly one that charges as much per night as this one.
It’s a genuine letdown, and while there are plenty of other options in Ubud for dining out, we think it’s better to have a good on-site restaurant.
Location & Immediate Surroundings
Ubud’s a brilliant place to be, and you’ll find there’s plenty of things to see and do on the doorstep; however, popularity isn’t always great.
The main attractions can get very crowded in peak seasons, and the traffic in and out of town can be a genuine nightmare.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise
The facilities are as advertised and very nice, but given the rates for this place, we’d really expect more than it has to offer especially when it comes to dining facilities.
Overall “Personality”
Bidadari Private Villas is gorgeous and despite the occasional shortcomings, it’s a place that you’re going to want to talk about when you get back home.
We doubt that it will slip your mind any time soon, that’s for sure.

The is a very good property, which is ideal for a romantic getaway or short city break, but might not have enough to do for longer stays.
Having said that, if it appeals to you, we’d definitely recommend it, it’s a great place to stay in Ubud.

We really enjoyed our stay here and found it to be super relaxing. However, while we would recommend this to most people interested in staying here, we think families with very young children might prefer somewhere with a bit more to do.
