This is, in our opinion, one of the finest resorts in Kuta. It’s also easily one of the best family-friendly hotels in Bali.
Cleanliness and Maintenance
The cleaning and maintenance teams do an excellent job of keeping this place looking up to date and spic and span.
It’s a challenge to deal with a resort of this size, but they do so with aplomb. You’ll be sure that your kids are in safe, hygienic hands.
Sleep Quality
The soundproofing’s pretty good, but this is a busy family resort, and occasionally there will be a bit of noise leaking into your room.
However, the comfortable beds, great air flow, and excellent linens make it easy to get a great night’s sleep most of the time.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture
The Hard Rock is an international chain hotel, which means you get the usual Balinese friendliness, warmth and kindness married to a high level of professionalism.
The staff here are excellent and deliver a very memorable experience for all the right reasons.
Check-in/Check-out Experience
Check-in and check-out are just fine at the Hard Rock. Even though it’s a very busy hotel, you should have very little wait to get into your room and to leave when you’re done.
They can store luggage after you check out if you want to explore Kuta a bit more before you leave for another part of the island or the airport.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality
The bathrooms are nice enough, and they have a certain “rock star” appeal, but the fixtures and fittings look a little worn. It’s not a biggie, but something that could use a little more attention to detail.
Value For Money
We feel that the Hard Rock is still quite expensive for the Kuta area, but that it provides an awful lot of amenities, services and dining that you can’t find anywhere else.
So, we’re giving it an above-average rating for value for money, despite the fact that it’s on the pricey side for this area.
Food And Beverage Execution
If you like Hard Rock Cafe, then you know what to expect at this resort. It’s all a bit chain restaurant standard. Great for kids, but adults are going to be a little bored by it.
Yes, even the Jamie Oliver restaurant is clearly operating in the same fashion.
Location & Immediate Surroundings
Kuta is a tad run-down now, but it’s mostly safe, though late at night, we’d advise some caution when walking near this hotel.
But the beach is not in good condition, and if you want a beach holiday, Kuta is a bad choice. It’s a good spot to explore the island from, though.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise
The Hard Rock has some of the best amenities of any family resort in Bali, and they’re all in really good condition.
We’d be very happy to return just to use the facilities here.
Overall “Personality”
You’re either going to love it or hate it, and that will almost certainly be based on how you feel about the Hard Rock brand already.
But there’s no doubt that this is a memorable hotel.

We enjoyed staying at the Hard Rock Hotel very much, the live band in the Hard Rock Cafe certainly didn’t hurt things for us.
Overall, if you want a bit of a raucous family holiday, this is a great place to choose for your time in Bali. But if you want quiet and relaxing, maybe pick somewhere else.
