The Oberoi is one of the big beasts on the Seminyak shoreline, a hotel that is perfectly positioned to enjoy the sweet and savoury tastes of Eat Street, Bali’s premier foodie destination.
With direct beach access, lush tropical gardens, and cute thatched villas and lanais to give you that Balinese feel, they’ve tried to capture what makes Bali, Bali, in miniature.
And our team couldn’t wait to find out how they’d succeeded or not in this endeavour, so they went to visit The Oberoi in Seminyak, Bali and here’s what they discovered there.

This excellent resort was one of our review team’s top picks for oceanfront resorts in Bali. We also feel it’s one of the best resorts in Seminyak.
Cleanliness and Maintenance

The Oberoi is kept very clean, and even our sneaky spot checks behind things that are usually missed failed to turn up any major bloopers.
However, there’s no doubt that this is one of the older hotels in the area, and every now and again, you’re confronted with that reality where the maintenance team hasn’t quite brought things up to date.
Sleep Quality

You’ll get an excellent night’s sleep at The Oberoi, with well-ventilated rooms that are also noise and lightproof.
We found the linens to be particularly pleasant, and the mattresses were ideal, as were the sumptuous pillows.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture

The service at this hotel is exceptional, and it feels old school; there’s a touch of the old colonial era in things (and in a good way), and we liked that very much.
There’s no doubt that they want you to have a fabulous time, and the staff are all willing to go out of their way to make that happen.
Check-in/Check-out Experience

The check-in and check-out processes were friendly and efficient enough; this isn’t the sort of resort where you end up stuck waiting behind a coach party, so you won’t delay too much before you’re in your room.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality

We adored the bathrooms here, the hotel robes are fabulous, the toiletries feel special and are really nice to use, and there’s so much space. You can’t go wrong with washing here.
Value For Money

The Oberoi is good value for money, but not exceptional. The Bali hotel scene is super competitive, and at this price point, you have plenty of options, and we’d recommend being very specific about what you want from a hotel before you book anything.
Food And Beverage Execution

We were a little disappointed in the F&B facilities at The Oberoi. This is a really upmarket hotel, and the dining experience is good enough, but never rises to the level of exceptional.
You can get some nice photos of food and drinks for your Instagram feed, though.
Location & Immediate Surroundings

Seminyak’s beachfront is one of the best locations in Bali. You’re near plenty of shops, bars, restaurants, and things to do. It’s also a pretty safe area.
Then, if you want to go further afield, this is a good place to visit the rest of the island from.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise

The onsite facilities are as promised in the marketing material and we generally enjoyed using them, but we also felt that they could use a bit of a spruce up and remodelling for the current era.
Overall “Personality”

The Oberoi is one of Bali’s most iconic hotels and there’s no doubt that it has a personality all of its own and in a very positive way.
This is the kind of place that you’ll still be talking about in a decade’s time whenever you talk about Bali.
Summary: Our Overview Of The Oberoi

We really enjoyed our time at The Oberoi, and we’d go back again without any issues at all. It’s especially good for family groups with teenagers that don’t need as much in-hotel entertainment or looking after as younger kids do.
If you opt to stay here, we think you’ll go home with some wonderful memories of Bali and Seminyak.
Grading: Excellent/Highly Recommended

FAQs
Is The Oberoi Family Friendly?
Yes, The Oberoi is very much a family-friendly hotel. They offer organised classes such as dance, painting, kite flying, surfing, etc. that kids can enjoy. However, there is no kids’ club, which might put some parents off this resort.
The gardens are a nice touch, though, and they provide a lot of space for adventurous youngsters to have fun without risking their safety.
Overall, we think this is a great resort for families, and we’d be happy to recommend it for larger groups too.
Final Thoughts On The Oberoi
The Oberoi is one of Bali’s best-known properties and deservedly so. Sure, it’s not cheap, but they do provide a very luxurious experience in exchange for the money.
We were a little disappointed in the restaurants, which we felt should be at the highest standards of the Bali dining scene, rather than just very good, but overall, we had a great time at this resort.
Overall, we’d be happy to recommend The Oberoi to anyone who is looking for an upscale experience in Seminyak and who is happy to pay for that experience.
