The beach town of Lovina doesn’t see as many visitors as it, perhaps, deserves, but other people’s loss can be your gain, and if you fancy dolphin watching and snorkelling, you might want to consider a trip to Lovina.
However, there are not as many accommodation options in Lovina as there are in the Southern beach towns, so you’ll want to pick your stay carefully.
With that in mind, our team headed out to try out Puri Bagus Lovina Beach & Yoga Retreat Resort to see if it was worth the price of admission, and this is what they learned.

Cleanliness and Maintenance

We felt that the cleaning team here did first-rate work and that everything was as clean as could be reasonably expected anywhere in the hotel.
However, we weren’t quite as impressed with the maintenance team, and there were lots of minor issues, none of them deal-breaking, that could have been attended to.
Sleep Quality

OK, it’s not the hotel’s fault that there’s a mosque down the street and that Bali is a sunny place. It is their fault that there’s weak soundproofing and even weaker blackout curtains in place.
We got a pretty good night’s sleep anyway, thanks to a very comfortable bed setup, but light sleepers may have their work cut out for them here.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture

We found the staff to be the sort of charming, caring folks that we’d expect to encounter at a good resort in North Bali.
They aren’t quite as seamlessly professional as in big brand-name resorts, but they make up for it in enthusiasm.
Check-in/Check-out Experience

Check-in and check-out are very straightforward experiences at this resort, and there’s no doubt that you will find yourself in your room very quickly after arriving.
Make sure you have transport arranged by the time you leave, though, as Grab and Gojek are pretty much non-existent here.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality

The bathrooms were fine, and we found the towels and toiletries to be very nice, indeed. Overall, we’d be happy to sneak in and use the bathrooms any time, but they weren’t quite the best in class either.
Value For Money

This one’s a bit tricky. If you can get the occasionally advertised lowest rate that we’ve listed at the top of this article, this place is excellent value for money.
If you have to pay 3-4 times that much, as is often the case, it’s not even good value for money compared to other resorts in a similar price bracket on the island. So, we’re going with OK as an overall rating, but be warned.
Food And Beverage Execution

We’d expected a bit more from the food here than we got. It’s OK, but it’s certainly nothing to write home about, and there are better places to eat in Lovina.
Overall, we’d grab breakfast if it were included, but otherwise, we’d probably eat outside of the hotel at night.
Location & Immediate Surroundings

Lovina is an interesting place, and we love going dolphin watching and snorkelling here. However, there’s not a lot else going on in the immediate area.
That means you need transportation, and if you intend to make this your final stop in Bali, it’s a long drive in heavy traffic to the airport.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise

We felt that they offered a very good range of well-kept facilities and amenities at this hotel, more than you might expect for a 4-star hotel in Lovina.
However, if you’re paying the maximum price, it still might not feel like enough.
Overall “Personality”

This place is stunning, and assuming you feel like you got good value for money out of your stay, you’re going to be raving about it for years to come.
However, if you feel that you overpaid, you may be complaining about it for years to come. So, we’re deducting a mark on that basis.
Summary: Our Overview Of Puri Bagus Lovina Beach & Yoga Retreat Resort

This is one of the hardest hotels that we’ve ever had to assess due to the extreme swings in room pricing.
If you can get a deal that seems reasonable at Puri Bagus Lovina Beach then you can stay at one of the most beautiful beach resorts in Bali and feel good about it. But don’t overpay, there are some really nice hotels nearby that don’t charge as much.
Grading: Very Good
FAQs
Is Puri Bagus Lovina Beach & Yoga Retreat Resort Family Friendly?
Yes, Puri Bagus Lovina Beach & Yoga Retreat is family-friendly. Children of any age may stay with parents or guardians here.
However, they treat children above the age of 4 as adults for billing purposes, which is not particularly generous.
They can provide a cot free of charge, but extra beds are chargeable at 770,000 IDR per person, per night, which is high for this area.#
There are some child-friendly facilities here, and there is also a babysitting service available for an extra charge.

Final Thoughts On Puri Bagus Lovina Beach & Yoga Retreat Resort
This is, without a doubt, the most attractive resort in Lovina, but it’s also very expensive. While the lowest minimum rate seems like a very good deal, it often increases prices to 3 or 4 times that as a nightly rate.
While we’d happily recommend this place at the lowest rate, it’s hard to do so at the highest rate, particularly when there’s an excellent beachfront 5-star hotel in Lovina for half the price.
