The Mulia is so good that it ranks as one of our top hotels in Nusa Dua. It’s also one of our favourite family-friendly spots.

Cleanliness and Maintenance

We were pretty happy with the cleaning at this resort, and even the maintenance was good, but we have to note that there are some serious issues that kind of fall into this category.

There are slippery floors, way too many stairs, and you may need to carry things like strollers up and down the stairs.

Rating:

Sleep Quality

We had a good night’s sleep in that the beds are comfy, the linen is quality, and the air flow in the room is very nice.

However, there is a bit of noise that comes through from other guests, and while it’s not overwhelming, it might make it hard to sleep if you’re a light sleeper.

Rating:

Staff Attitude And Service Culture

We’d heard mixed things about the staff at The Mulia and felt a bit nervous about our first trip, but in the end, they turned out to be rather exaggerated.

The service culture here is excellent, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Maybe they have the occasional off day, but we didn’t witness it.

Rating:

Check-in/Check-out Experience

The check-in and check-out process is just fine for a hotel like this one, but we admit we’re always irked when they expect a deposit, which then can take “up to 4 weeks” to be returned.

Why? You took it now. We want it back when we leave. This is 2026, we can transfer money to the other side of the planet instantaneously, we expect you to be able to process a deposit refund equally quickly.

Rating:

Bathroom Quality & Functionality

The bathrooms were excellent with more than enough room, good water pressure and attractive fixtures and fittings.

We were happy with the supplied toiletries, which, while not the very best we’ve seen, were more than adequate to the task.

Rating:

Value For Money

We think The Mulia is good, but not exceptional value for money. Some attention to small details could give them a real boost in this category.

However, they’re competing with a lot of hotels in Bali in this price bracket, so make sure you shop around to find exactly what you’re looking for.

Rating:

Food And Beverage Execution

The restaurants here are very good, and the food and drinks are of a high standard. However, the rigmarole for breakfast (which is included in your room as long as you eat in the right place) is ridiculous. It shouldn’t require a degree in map-making to find a place to chow down.

Rating:

Location & Immediate Surroundings

Nusa Dua is popular because it’s pretty and it’s super safe. Families come here to enjoy the white sand beaches and to hole up in the resort.

But if they want to explore Bali, they’re going to have to endure some pretty terrible traffic if they want to get off the Bukit Peninsula.

Rating:

Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise

The facilities and amenities here are first-rate, and there are so many that you’re never going to grow tired of them on a 2-week holiday.

If you like spending time in the hotel, you won’t get bored here.

Rating:

Overall “Personality”

It’s a bit on the corporate side for our tastes, but there’s nothing wrong with the vibe of The Mulia, either. If you want a standard 5-star beach resort, this is it.
