Canggu was once a backwater surf village, but that’s very much in the past now. Today, it’s probably the most dynamic and vibrant spot on the island. It offers visitors striking black sand beaches, rice paddies, a cool cafe culture, and a creative energy that welcomes families.
It’s not as resort-intensive as other areas in the South of the island and doesn’t carry that spiritual intensity of Ubud. We think you might find Canggu to be a sweet spot for a family break, with walkable beaches, child-friendly eateries with high chairs (and smoothie bowls), plenty of activities to enjoy and hotels that can help parents find downtime while their kids seek adventure.
Choosing the right place to stay matters. It can make or break a family vacation. The best hotels for families in Canggu offer spacious rooms and suites (often with connecting options or bunk beds for the younger ones), dedicated kids’ pools and/or play areas, supervised activities, kids’ clubs, kids’ menus and locations that are near the beach and quiet enough for an afternoon nap.
They tick the important boxes of safety, cleanliness and staff who enjoy spending their time around children and ensuring that everyone has a great time.
So, here, in our opinion, are the 10 best family-friendly hotels in Canggu at the moment. We’ve selected them based on both our own experiences and high guest ratings. They all deliver kid-centric amenities, are close enough to the beaches and other attractions and are popular with parents from all over the world.
They range from luxurious beachfront escapes with all the mod cons to more practical mid-range options to ensure that you can match your holiday home to your budget and style.

Hotel Tugu Bali

Hotel Tugu Bali is one of the best resorts on the island, and it brings a unique and distinct cultural and historical flavour to a holiday. It’s a place where your Instagram photos will really stun your friends back home.
It manages this while remaining very much a family-friendly resort, and its location on the popular Batu Bolong Beach is highly desirable for many. You will find beach access, outdoor pools, family rooms and elements that feel more like a regal estate rather than your standard resort.
You can enjoy antiques, art, and Balinese-style gardens, and there are plenty of play elements for your children to enjoy too. We think that this hotel’s sense of place makes it very memorable.
They have solid childcare options, and there are places nearby where you can enjoy sports and other activities. In short, this is a choice for families who want their kids to absorb a bit of what makes Bali unique and enticing.
It’s a great hotel for multi-generational family trips and for parents who want to emphasise design and storytelling, alongside the modern comforts you expect in a high-end resort.

COMO Uma Canggu

Families that want to seek out an elevated beachside experience can’t go wrong with the COMO Uma Canggu. It’s a place for those who want sun, sea and sand with luxurious finishes and genuine substance for their children to enjoy on holiday.
The Play by COMO is a space for kids from the ages of 4 up to 12 to enjoy creative and culturally infused activities. They can take part in batik, stories, eco-crafts, natural play, and it’s open daily.
If your kids are more interested in the athletic side of things, they may want to engage in the Turtle Club (for ages 6 to 12), which is run in partnership with Tropic Surf and aims to ensure that kids learn to surf safely, with a focus on ocean awareness as well as technique.
They have very spacious residences and suites with big living areas and kitchens, so if you are thinking of a longer-term stay, this can really help.
They’ve got pools, family yoga studios, and a kids’ menu that is healthier than the usual kids’ menu but still enticing to the little ones.
You can easily arrange babysitting services with the concierge, and it’s very simple to spend days between the pool, sand and hotel facilities without requiring any transportation.
We find that parents rave about the calm spaces among the kid-friendly zones, so that they can truly unwind, while their children can go wild.

ZIN Canggu Resort & Villas

ZIN’s big selling point to families is its four outdoor pools and easy beach access to Nelayan Beach (and it’s only a short walk from here to Echo Beach). They also provide free cribs and rooms/villas that work well for a family holiday.
If you feel like splurging, you could opt for a private pool and even more space. The central pool area is brilliant, though, and a focal point for children to play while adults sip cocktails on comfy sun loungers.
They have a great on-site cafe that delivers amazing breakfast options; there are fitness classes (and a nice gym), and even a co-working space if you need to get some work in while your family plays; they can arrange most things, including taxis, at the front desk.
The staff are used to younger guests and are very friendly and accommodating with kids. THis is a strong mid-to-upper range choice that is stylish but practical. If you want to learn to surf, this is a super spot to base yourselves in.

There’s an excellent kids’ club with daily activities such as crafts, making Balinese offerings, games, face painting, etc. They also have an indoor playroom and a kids’ pool right next to the central infinity pool, which makes it very handy for ocean views.
Kids under the age of 12 can often stay and/or eat here for free under the Holiday Inn’s family policies (but make sure to check the current terms on this as they can vary with the season), and there’s even an on-site nanny service if you want some time in the spa or for a quiet coffee.

Eastin Ashta Resort Canggu

This lovely resort is just a few minutes away from Echo Beach, which, although it’s not the beach named in the famous song, is one of Canggu’s top spots.
The Eastin has a large main pool, which is directly paired with a dedicated kids’ pool, a kids’ club with an indoor playground, babysitting services and kids’ menus in the on-site restaurant.
One nice touch here is that the family deluxe rooms can be connected to provide space for even the largest of families.
We feel that their fitness centre, garden areas, and overall modern design ensure that you have a great (and clean) base that’s genuinely comfortable.
Regular visitors say that they love the splash area for kids and the friendly staff who are happy to help in any circumstances.
It’s also a great choice if you want some cool pool time near a beach, without having to spend a small fortune as you might at some of Canggu’s other properties. You’ll also enjoy extended breakfast hours and plenty of child-friendly amenities.

Coming Soon! FINNS Bali Resort And FINNS Lifestyle Village

One major addition to Canggu, which should arrive sometime in 2027, is FINNS Bali Resort and FINNS Lifestyle Village. This family-friendly resort is brought to you by the same people who brought you FINNS Beach Club, which is universally acclaimed as the world’s best beach club.
It will have 256 rooms, including 2-bedroom suites for larger families, 3 pools, a shopping village, the best gym on the island, and much more. We can’t wait to experience it for ourselves.
Practical Tips For Families That Visit Canggu

There are a few things you should know about this area before you come, so that you can ensure you have a great time.
Firstly, the seas on Canggu’s beaches have very strong currents and can be dangerous for swimming. It’s best to stick to designated swimming areas or even the resort pool. You might want to consider surfing lessons, though; this is the best place on the island for beginners.
Many hotels can arrange an airport transfer, which might be a little more expensive than a taxi at the airport, but it’s way more convenient when you’ve got a ton of luggage and little ones running about.
We don’t recommend taking a scooter with your children, no matter how often you see people do this; Bali’s roads are a nightmare and scooter accidents are extremely common. It’s better to use a ride-sharing car to get around, even if it takes a little longer.
Make sure to pack reef-safe sunscreen to protect the environment. Take some light rain jackets in case of tropical showers. It’s also a good idea to bring some of your preferred snacks from home, as they may not be available or might be very expensive here.
Make sure to book kids’ clubs and babysitting services in advance during the peak seasons (July-August and the Christmas and New Year period). You’ll find that many of the properties here provide free stays for kids or free meals, so make sure you confirm policies while you are booking your stay.
FAQs
Is Canggu A Good Destination For A Family Holiday?
Yes, in fact, we’d go so far as to say it’s one of the best places in Bali to stay if you’re on holiday with your children. While the sea isn’t great for swimming, it’s the best place to learn surfing on the island.
The hotels are more reasonably priced than in Seminyak or Nusa Dua, which can really help when it comes to the budget for your holiday.
And most of all, there’s so much to do in this area that your kids will never be bored. On top of that, many of the hotels offer kids’ clubs and other child-focused amenities that ensure you can sneak off for an hour or two of spa time without them being bored or unsafe.
When it opens, we expect FINNS Bali Resort to be one of the best places to stay for a family in this area, as they take holistic stays to the next level.
Is Canggu Safe?
Yes, Canggu is safe. In fact, Bali as a whole is very safe. The biggest risks most people will face on a holiday here are medical issues, and it’s important to have travel insurance and to visit your doctor for some advice and to get your vaccinations up to date.
Violent crime is incredibly rare in Bali, and the little there is tends to be alcohol-related. If you keep your kids out of the bars, you shouldn’t have any issues there.
However, as with almost anywhere on Earth, there is a little petty crime around, and it pays to keep a close eye on your belongings while you’re out and about.
Most people will find Canggu to be a safer environment than their own city back home. It’s a great place for a family vacation.
Which Family-Friendly Hotels Are Closest To The Beach In Canggu?
A lot of the hotels in Canggu are close to the beach, and the majority of them are family-friendly.
We’d suggest Aston Canggu Beach Resort, COMO Uma Canggu and Hotel Tugu Bali if you want to be able to walk out of your hotel and almost straight on to the beach.
Final Thoughts

To make it onto our list of the best resorts in Canggu, the hotels had to make life easier for families. They provide convenient pool access, space to spread out, staff that understand that children have different rhythms and needs, and locations that allow you to enjoy the beach and sample the area’s energy without spending a lot of time and money on long transfers.
Whether you opt for the structured, programmed environment of the Holiday Inn, the cultural and surfing focus of COMO Uma, the multi-pool convenience of ZIN, the practical kitchens of Citadines or any other hotel on our list, you’ll find a place where parents can relax and enjoy the slow-paced island life while their kids make lifetime memories.
Canggu works best for families who like to plan a little, but leave space on the itinerary for spontaneous beach days, cafe hopping, rice field treks, and sunset walks. It’s best to pick a hotel that matches your children’s ages and your preferred pace of life. When you do that, this vibrant coastal town will offer the experiences that you dream of.
Make sure to book early for peak periods, double-check family-friendly policies and room configurations, and then get set for a holiday that feels both exciting and easy to manage. Your kids will remember making friends by the pool and on the beach, and you’ll remember the joy of finishing a coffee while they play safely nearby.
