Anantara is a unique resort that gently winds its way down the terraced cliffside onto the beach below, and that means that every single room has a perfect view over the Indian Ocean to enjoy.
The chain itself has already built up a sterling reputation in Thailand, Cambodia and beyond for excellence, and there’s no doubt that its honourable mention in the Michelin Guide for Indonesia had our curiosity piqued, too.
So, our team was excited to gather up its things, pack their bags and head out with their review sheets to experience Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort for themselves, and this is what they discovered there.

This is one of Bali’s 20 best oceanfront resorts according to our reviewers’ assessment, and it also made our 20 top luxury properties list. It’s also in a prime position in our list of the best places to stay in Uluwatu.
Cleanliness and Maintenance

They have high standards at Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort, and it shows in the cleaning and maintenance. Everything here is spotless, and whatever you move to try and catch the staff out? It’s not going to work; it’s super clean.
The maintenance crew is also on the ball, and we couldn’t find anything showing so much as a glimpse of wear and tear.
Sleep Quality

One of the nice things about being on this part of the coast is that there’s not much going on around you, so you’re guaranteed a pretty peaceful night’s sleep.
And in these luxurious, hyper-comfortable beds in superbly cooled rooms with blackout curtains? You can’t fail to get the best night’s sleep of your life.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture

It’s Anantara and they’ve built their brand on exceptional service and Bali is always great for good service anyway. Combine the two and you have a world-class team on your hands.
They are guaranteed to help ensure that you have a wonderful experience during your stay.
Check-in/Check-out Experience

The check-in experience is more than good enough to ensure you’re in your rooms in a reasonable amount of time and ready to kick back and relax.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality

The bathrooms are amazing, big, spacious, great water pressure, lovely towels and fabulous toiletries. We’d come back just to take a shower here or a bath, again.
Value For Money

This isn’t the cheapest of resorts, but we feel that it’s good value for money bordering on great value for money. If you can afford to stay here, you won’t be sorry that you did.
Food And Beverage Execution

We loved the variety of dining experiences here and the food and drinks are excellent. Far better than your average hotel fare and in certain cases, competing with Bali’s first-rate fine dining scene.
We’d love to come back and eat here again and again.
Location & Immediate Surroundings

This part of Bali is great if you’re seeking some solitude and peace and quiet and it’s certainly safe.
However, it’s not within walking distance of very much and you’re going to have to get transportation to explore the rest of the island, and Bali traffic means long journeys to many of the best tourist attractions.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise

The facilities are as advertised, but most importantly, they are all designed to wow the guest. There’s nothing here that hasn’t been given the kind of love and attention that you want from a top resort.
Overall “Personality”

The layered hillside design of this resort means that you get a spectacular view of the ocean every day, all day long while you stay here, that in its own right makes it memorable.
But everything else about you stay will be amazing too, and this resort has personality to spare and all of it wonderful.
Summary: Our Overview Of Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort

We can see why the Michelin Guide singled out the Anantara for an honourable mention; this place is really, really good.
You are going to have a great time if you choose to stay here, with the only real downside being that the location is a bit remote from the rest of the island’s best spots.
Grading: Excellent/Highly Recommended
You might also appreciate The Surga Villa or Jumeirah, which are both in Uluwatu, too.
FAQs
Is Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort Family Friendly?
Yes, Anantara Ulwuatu Bali Resort is family-friendly. However, while they do offer a range of children’s activities and activities for all the family, there is no dedicated kids’ club.
We like the Balinese dance lessons, Batik painting, and even private movie nights in the resort cinema. They also offer free accommodation for children in some package deals.
However, this is a cliff-side resort, and you may not feel that this is an ideal setting for younger children, particularly those with a tendency to hare off all the time.
Overall, it’s a good choice of accommodation for a family, but you should consider whether it’s the ideal choice for your family before you book.
Final Thoughts On Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort
Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort is an exceptional resort with breathtaking views over the ocean that are hard to beat anywhere on the island.
We like that they’ve worked hard to create a community vibe, while still providing plenty of privacy in their villas.
Overall, we can’t imagine anyone having anything other than an amazing time at this resort, and we’d be happy to recommend it on that basis.
