Seminyak is renowned for being one of the most expensive areas to stay in Bali, and there’s no doubt that this popular beach town lives up to that reputation most of the time.
The Grand Mercure Bali, on the other hand, is an exception to that rule, offering five-star luxury for a more reasonable price tag.
So, our team were interested to find out if they could deliver an awesome experience that wouldn’t require a second mortgage to enjoy it (if they weren’t on their expense accounts anyway), and this is what they discovered at Grand Mercure Bali in Seminyak.

This resort is one of our top picks in Seminyak.
Cleanliness and Maintenance

We thought that the cleaning staff did an excellent job of keeping things neat and tidy, and that, mostly, we couldn’t find anything they’d missed.
However, there’s no doubt that this is an older resort, and the maintenance team has its work cut out to keep ahead of the curve. They do fix things pretty quickly, though, if an issue is flagged.
Sleep Quality

We were really impressed with the quality of our sleep at Grand Mercure Bali. The rooms are noise and light-proof, and there’s no doubt that the beds are first-rate.
We also enjoyed excellent ventilation, which meant we could stay cool as we slept without turning the A/C up full blast and becoming icicles by morning.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture

This is very much a Bali 5-star property when it comes to staff, and their service is out of this world. Everyone at this resort wants you to have an amazing time in Bali.
You’ll also be impressed by their professionalism and attention to detail. They will iron out any problems you have without wasting your time referring issues up the management hierarchy.
Check-in/Check-out Experience

Check-in and check-out here are both perfectly acceptable. You may have to wait a little if a big group turns up, otherwise you will soon be in your rooms after arrival.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality

The bathrooms are good, though not the best we’ve ever seen. You will find them big enough, and the provided toiletries are OK. The towels were a little on the small side but not inadequate either.
Value For Money

We think this is an excellent hotel for this price point in Seminyak. This is one of the most expensive parts of the island, and really, most 5-star resorts are going to cost much more here.
If you’re a family with your hearts set on 5-star living in Seminyak but on a tight-ish budget, you will be very happy here.
Food And Beverage Execution

The onsite bars and restaurants are decent 5-star fare, and you will enjoy the breakfast. However, we can’t imagine anyone coming here just for the food, either.
Location & Immediate Surroundings

Seminyak is a popular location because there’s so much to see and do nearby. It’s a very safe area, and there are plenty of bars, restaurants, shops, etc. within walking distance.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise

You can’t argue with the amount of amenities they have at this hotel for the price point and we’d also say they’re all in excellent order, too.
Overall “Personality”

We like the look of this hotel but as with most big chain hotels, there’s a touch of the corporate about things too. It’s nice enough, you’ll get some good photos but it’s not really a memorable hotel, either.
Summary: Our Overview Of Grand Mercure Bali

We think in this price range, if you’re looking for a family-friendly resort in Seminyak, you really can’t go wrong with Grand Mercure Bali.
It has excellent amenities and a wonderful view over the Seminyak Beach area. You’re also nicely positioned to go and explore the island if you want to, from here.
However, if you’re a hard-partying couple with no kids, you might prefer somewhere a little less family-oriented than this resort.
Grading: Excellent/Highly Recommended
You might also like Double Six Luxury Hotel or Hotel Indigo, both of which are also in Seminyak.

Final Thoughts On Grand Mercure Bali
Seminyak has become famously pricey over the years, and you’re not going to find too many hostel-level properties here; however, this 5-star family resort is incredible value for money for this location.
If you’re a young family seeking a great spot to enjoy a Bali sunset, take your time lounging by the pool and to explore the island from, this is a great choice.
The only downside to this location is that some of the nearby cafes, restaurants, etc., are a bit more expensive than you’d like them to be.
