Cleanliness and Maintenance
Glamping is still a form of camping, and you simply cannot expect a bedroom environment that is open to the world to be spotlessly clean.
Even when the cleaning and maintenance team works as hard as they do here, things blow in the door immediately after being attended to. That’s life in nature for you.
Sleep Quality
We think that most people will have a wonderful night’s sleep here, as it’s very isolated from the rest of the island, and all you can hear is jungle sounds.
The beds are comfortable and pleasant. But we should note that light sleepers may not enjoy the frog chorus that echoes all over this island in the dead of night.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture
We found the staff here to be very hospitable in the Balinese fashion; no, they’re not as polished as the folks who work at the island’s 5-star resorts, but they are very good all the same.
They’ll do what they can to ensure that you have a very pleasant experience at this glamping site.
Check-in/Check-out Experience
Checking in to a tent is very easy, and given that this place is pretty isolated and, in our experience, not that full, you should have no problems at all.
The same goes for check out, but there is no luggage storage option, not that you’re likely to need it – most people aren’t going out and then coming back before they move on from Munduk.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality
The bathrooms were fine, though they could perhaps use a lick of paint and a gentle overhaul in the fixtures and fittings department.
You will need to bring your own toiletries as we didn’t get any, but the showers are hot, and the water is clean, and that’s all you really need.
Value For Money
Moondock Luxury Camp is very good value for money, bordering on the excellent, with just a little work to bring the place up to looking new again. It would be excellent, in fact.
If you want a quiet break in the Balinese countryside and don’t have the money for a luxury resort, this is a very fine alternative.
Food And Beverage Execution
The food here is all lovingly prepared on-site, and while it’s never going to feature in a Top 100 Restaurants in Bali Guide, it’s still more than good enough.
We like to be able to get breakfast wherever we stay, as it helps to set you up for a day hiking those lovely waterfalls.
Location & Immediate Surroundings
Some people will find this place a bit isolated, but if you really want to experience Balinese nature, we think it’s about perfect.
It’s certainly safe and pleasant, and you’re going to find that you can get some peace and quiet without issues. However, you do need transport to get to the rest of the island.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise
They offer a decent range of amenities for a campsite in the middle of nowhere, and if you’re getting bored with the food on-site, the grocery delivery service is super handy.
Overall “Personality”
You simply cannot beat the setting here, and if glamping is your thing, you’re going to be very glad that you came to Moondock Luxury Camp.
It’s proof that you don’t need to be rich to have truly memorable holidays in Bali.

Our team came to Moondock Luxury Camp with a little trepidation as glamping can so often turn into “basic camping” in parts of Southeast Asia.
However, what they found was indeed a pleasant glamping site in an area with so much natural beauty that it would be impossible not to have a great time.

Extra beds are available for 150,000 IDR/night (approx. $10 USD or $15 AUD), and the number of extra beds permitted depends on which room you opt to stay in.
While there aren’t any child-specific facilities available here, they do offer babysitting services, and there are plenty of outdoor activities that kids can get involved in.
Final Thoughts On Moondock Luxury Camp
Moondock Luxury Camp is lovely, and we really enjoyed getting out into nature here. The rice terraces are much less busy than the more famous ones on the island, and the waterfall trail is amazing.
The camp itself provides an excellent place to rest and enjoy reading a book, quiet conversation, or to eat some local food.
We’d be happy to recommend this spot to anyone seeking a more relaxed time in Bali.
