Cleanliness and Maintenance
This hotel is very clean throughout, though we did find the occasional spot that the cleaning team had missed, but it’s easy to do in this kind of complex.
We also felt that the resort was very well maintained, but there were a couple of very minor issues with the AC that were resolved swiftly.
Sleep Quality
We felt that the overall sleep experience was very good and that the beds were really nice and comfortable with excellent mattresses, pillows and bedding.
However, we also felt that the blackout curtains were not quite up to the task and given the amount of windows in the bedroom, it might have been better with just a little more work.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture
We felt that the staff here were first-rate and that they paid attention to the small details and made us feel genuinely appreciated as guests.
They also seemed to have been empowered to boost the guest experience wherever possible, which is a nice touch.
Check-in/Check-out Experience
Checking in is very easy, and this isn’t the biggest resort; you’re a name, not a number, at Alaya Resort Ubud.
The check-out process is also very adequate, and you will be on your way within a few minutes of deciding to set off.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality
We thought the bathrooms were amazing, really big and with luxurious touches all over the place. The supplied toiletries were above average, and we really liked the towels.
There was no issue with water pressure or getting enough hot water, two common complaints in Bali, so that was really appreciated.
Value For Money
We felt that this resort was very good value for money, bordering on the excellent, and it really could have gone either way.
Our team wanted to point out that there are many properties in Ubud in this price range, though, and everyone should compare and contrast a few before they make a decision to book.
Food And Beverage Execution
The Brasserie Restaurant is a cut above the usual hotel fare, and we enjoyed eating in this spot from time to time during our stay.
And the good news is that if you do get bored with the menu, there are hundreds of other restaurants nearby to try.
Location & Immediate Surroundings
Ubud is an excellent place to spend a holiday. It’s safe and the cultural capital of the island. However, it’s also very touristed nowadays, and you will have to deal with crowds at many sights.
Worse, the traffic in and out of the town often reaches nightmare-tier standards, and it’s best to see the local area and then move on rather than basing yourself out of Ubud.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise
The facilities here are very good, and our only real complaint is that we felt there could have been a few more of them given the price.
Overall “Personality”
This is a stunning property that absolutely screams “Bali” and we think it woul dbe hard to spend time at this resort and not come away with a favourable and lasting impression of it.
This is the sort of archetypal Ubud hotel that made this island so popular and it deserves to be experienced.
