The St. Regis Bali Resort Review, Nusa Dua, Bali: More Than Just The Best Brunch In Bali

Nusa Dua is Bali’s brand-name family resort town. It was developed as an alternative to the more accessible parts of the island, for those seeking resort-based holidays over exploration-style holidays.

Almost every major international 5-star chain is represented on the stunning shoreline of Nusa Dua, and one of the best is The St. Regis Bali Resort. It’s famed for its incredible brunch, for which people come from far and wide.

But is The St. Regis Bali more than just a pretty meal between breakfast and lunch? Our team went to find out, and this is what they learned there.

Cleanliness and Maintenance

The St. Regis is an older resort now, but you wouldn’t know it by looking around the place. The maintenance team here do a very good job, indeed.

And the cleaning staff are similarly well-skilled, they make sure that each room is spotless and that no matter how hard you try to catch them out, there’s no dust or dirt to be seen.

Rating:

Sleep Quality

The beds are up there with the very best that we’ve ever tried, and Nusa Dua is a pretty quiet area all told, so there’s no noise pollution, and we didn’t find our fellow guests to be noisy, either.

The linens are excellent, the mattresses are superbly comfortable, and the air flow through the room is ideal. You can’t get a much better night’s sleep than this one.

Rating:

Staff Attitude And Service Culture

While we absolutely can’t fault the staff for their attitude and service towards guests, there are a couple of annoyances at this hotel.

One is the expectation that you book every restaurant in the resort, so they can sell the spare capacity to outside guests.

The second is the way they treat people not staying at the hotel entering the beach, it’s not a private beach – there’s no such thing in Bali – and the hotel shouldn’t be interfering with these people at all.

Rating:

Check-in/Check-out Experience

They’re using state-of-the-art check-in and check-out software here, and the room key can be mapped to your smartphone, making it super easy to get in and out of your rooms.

Rating:

Bathroom Quality & Functionality

The bathrooms are large and attractive, with good towels and some nice free toiletries included. You won’t be complaining about washing up for dinner here.

Rating:

Value For Money

There’s no getting around that the St. Regis is an expensive place to stay, and while we did think that overall, it was very good, it’s also a little on the old side now, and there are places in Nusa Dua that we feel are better value for money. So, we’re giving it an “OK” rating in this category.

Rating:

Food And Beverage Execution

The food and drinks, not just the Sunday Brunch, are exceptional for a chain resort, and under most circumstances, this would be an easy 5-star rating.

However, there is a fly in the ointment, their staff seem to struggle with the concept of dietary requirements. And while we were just testing things, if they pour soy sauce all over a gluten-free meal, it’s no longer gluten-free.

We hope they attend to this with training, but if you have a dietary issue, you might choose another hotel.

Rating:

Location & Immediate Surroundings

Nusa Dua is beautiful, and it’s safe. There’s no doubt that it deserves to be popular with families. However, outside of the resorts, there’s not much to do, and you need to deal with some rotten traffic to explore the rest of the island.

Rating:

Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise

We felt that this was one of the best resorts in Bali for amenities and facilities, and while it is an older hotel, everything was kept in top-notch condition.

Rating:

Overall “Personality”

There’s still an element of the corporate in the design here that stops us from giving it 5 stars for personality, but overall, it’s a genuinely fantastic hotel.

FAQs

Is The St. Regis Bali Resort Family Friendly?

Yes, St. Regis Bali Resort is famously family-friendly with one of the best kids’ clubs on the island, though it’s worth noting that only those staying in the 2-bedroom villa have free access to the club; otherwise, it’s available for a small fee.

They have a learning centre running teacher-led activities as part of this club and the aim is to provide both fun and mental stimulation and social development for the children in their care.

This resort also has family-friendly rooms, kids’ menus, and plenty of amenities for the whole family to enjoy.

In fact, we consider this resort to be one of the most family-friendly in Bali just like the Intercontinental Bali and Mandapa: A Ritz-Carlton reserve.

Final Thoughts On The St. Regis Bali Resort

The. St. Regis Bali Resort is a fabulous choice for a family holiday where you intend to spend most of your time enjoying relaxing in the resort.

It has a host of excellent facilities, the on-site restaurants are among the best on the island, and the Sunday brunch is truly legendary.

However, if you want to explore the rest of the island, the location is going to make for some very long car journeys, thanks to the traffic bottlenecks onto the Bukit Peninsula.
