Cleanliness and Maintenance
The maintenance team do wonders here, and we were also really impressed with the cleaning team, but let’s be fair about this – villas are a real challenge to keep clean.
That’s because in the jungle, the moment the cleaning stops, the jungle starts sneaking in: insects, leaves, lizards, etc. There’s not much they can do about that, though.
Sleep Quality
We thought that the rooms were well-appointed for sleeping and that the beds were as big and comfortable as you could hope for, including good mattresses.
However, there are some noisy chickens in this area, and while mostly the sound of them doesn’t leak into the room, if you’re a light sleeper, they may disturb you just before dawn.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture
Every interaction with the staff at The Purist Villas was delightful; they took the time to learn our names and ensured that everything was just as we wanted it to be.
They embody the hospitality culture for which Bali is rightly famous, and we think that everyone would enjoy dealing with them.
Check-in/Check-out Experience
Check-in was fine, and given there are only 18 villas here, we think you’d have to be very unlucky to wait more than a minute or two before you’re in your rooms.
They can hold luggage post-check-out, which is handy if you want to continue to explore Ubud after you give up your rooms.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality
The bathrooms are excellent with plenty of room to maneuver around as needed. The fixtures and fittings are modern and fully functional.
We also found there to be enough hot water and good water pressure, two things that are often lacking in Bali. The toiletries and towels were fine too.
Value For Money
We felt that the villas were excellent value for money; each individual villa does have a unique styling to it, and there’s no doubt that a lot of effort went into creating the interiors and vibe.
If you want a reasonably priced villa accommodation in Ubud, then you’re going to find that this very much fits the bill.
Food And Beverage Execution
Balisimo Cafe was very good, bordering on excellent, and while it’s not a fine dining experience, if you want nutritious, healthy meals during your stay, you won’t be sorry to eat here.
We thought the ingredients were fresh and the range of dishes on offer was delightful.
Location & Immediate Surroundings
Ubud is a top choice of Bali holidaymakers, and that’s because the central town has so much to see and do: markets, waterfalls, temples, monkeys, museums, shops, yoga, etc.
But there’s a tradeoff in that Ubud’s popularity leads to crowds at the top attractions, and there is often very heavy traffic leading into and out of town.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise
We felt that they slightly exaggerated the offering available (there are no watersports in Ubud, it’s landlocked, but they do provide tours to the coast, for example).
However, everything that should be on the grounds is on the grounds, and there’s no doubt that it’s all in very good condition.
Overall “Personality”
The Purist Villas are an attractive collection of villas set in beautiful countryside and offering excellent service from the locals.
While they may not be the most identifiable collection in Bali, there’s no doubt that you will remember staying here for years to come and remember it fondly.

The Purist Villas makes for an excellent home away from home and if you haven’t yet sampled the delights of living in a luxury villa in Bali, this is a very affordable experience for the standard.

Yes, children of all ages are welcome at The Purist Villas in Ubud. However, this resort uses variable pricing schemes for kids, so you’ll need to check the terms and conditions re age thresholds as you book.
Cots are available for little ones for free, but if you want an extra bed, it will cost 820,000 IDR per night per child (that’s roughly $50 USD or $80 AUD).
We should note that while kids are welcome, there are absolutely no special facilities for them here, no kids’ menu and no babysitting services.
Final Thoughts On The Purist Villas
The Purist Villas is a charming collection of villas in a lovely area where most people are going to have a very pleasant time.
We should note that some of the “facilities” they offer are off-site tours – you can’t windsurf in Ubud, for example, there’s no beach to do it at.
However, ignoring that minor gripe, there’s no doubt that if you book The Purist Villas for your next holiday, you will have a very nice time, indeed.
