Cleanliness and Maintenance
This place is in the middle of the jungle, quite literally, too. While the cleaning and maintenance staff are excellent, you’re going to find that things get in your room seconds after they’ve been cleaned.
And the attention to detail here is a bit hit and miss at times too, nothing holiday ruining, but you may need to ask them to come back to attend to something.
Sleep Quality
The location is fabulous for a quiet night’s sleep in the jungle, and despite being out in the middle of nowhere, the beds are big and comfortable.
However, there are jungle noises, and you will need to sleep with mosquito nets pulled firmly closed around the bed, unless you want to be something’s snack while you sleep.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture
The staff were extremely helpful and kind throughout our stay, and there’s no doubt that they are in the business of making things as pleasant as possible for you.
But be warned, while they are super helpful when they are there, they’re not on duty 24 hours a day, and issues that crop up late at night will have to wait until morning.
Check-in/Check-out Experience
You can’t really go wrong when checking into a small resort in an isolated area of Bali; it’s never going to take very long.
The same goes for checking out, though make sure you have transport already arranged, this place is not easy to get a Grab or Goejk from.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality
Overall, the whole outdoor bathroom experience is nice, and the towels and toiletries are good. But if you’re on the larger side, like some of our team, you may find yourself uncomfortably close to the wall when you shower.
Value For Money
We think this resort represents excellent value for money when you look at the room rate and what’s included compared to other similar resorts around the island.
However, while the room is great value for money, we’d suggest paying careful attention to the next section.
Food And Beverage Execution
We’d recommend that you bring food and drinks with you to Camaya Bali. They know they have a captive audience, and while the room rates are attractive, the prices for the food here are bordering on outrageous.
There are no other warungs, restaurants, cafes, etc. within walking distance, and it’s clear they’re making up the margins on what is decent but not incredible food and drink.
Location & Immediate Surroundings
If you want isolated, you’ve got isolated. That means you can have beautiful views, long country walks and lots of peace and quiet.
But there is absolutely nothing nearby apart from the waterfall that we mentioned earlier, and you will need transportation if you want to get out and about.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise
There aren’t a huge number of facilities and amenities, but what they do have are good quality and valuable additions to your holiday.
You’re going to be OK for two or three days just spending time in the resort before you get bored.
Overall “Personality”
This place is gorgeous, and while the villas are not quite as pretty as the surrounding countryside, the whole thing sings with beauty.
And that means you will get plenty of great photos and be talking about this place in future years with fond memories.

No, Camaya Bali is not family-friendly. Firstly, it’s listed as an adults-only resort as one of a number of properties on the island that only caters to child-free guests.
Secondly, as with many of these jungle bamboo resorts, even if the hotel allowed children to stay, you would be nervous about the safety of young children due to paths, potential fall hazards, etc.
Don’t worry, though, Bali has plenty of family-friendly holiday properties to choose from, and you can still have an amazing stay here.

Camaya Bali bills itself as a “magical place”, and we tend to agree. We think this is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, and the nearby waterfall adds a really special touch to this lovely resort.
It is adults-only, so if you’re thinking about bringing your kids, please don’t; they won’t be allowed in.
