Hidden Hills prides itself on bringing the whole world to your doorstep, and thus, each of its villas is themed on a different place around the globe.
However, this part of Uluwatu is under some fierce development at the moment, and we wondered if the grace of all these places might shield us from the hubbub.
So, our team went to Hidden Hills Villas in Uluwatu, Bali, to find out if these lovely luxury villas were worth the entrance fee, and this was their report.

Hidden Hills brings up the rear on our best hotels in Uluwatu roundup.
Cleanliness and Maintenance

It doesn’t matter how hard the cleaning and maintenance staff work when dust keeps blowing in from the construction site next door.
This hotel is still more than acceptably clean, mind you, but we’d prefer to see it at its best, and sadly, the construction here interferes with all our grading.
Sleep Quality

You’ll get a good night’s sleep at Hidden Hills Villas, but here’s the thing: when we’re on holiday, we want daytime naps sometimes (particularly if we’ve had a few too many cocktails at the pool).
And the noise of nearby construction definitely makes it hard to sleep during the day. Of course, given this property’s relatively remote nature, they wouldn’t have planned for soundproofing, and it shows.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture

The staff are excellent and do a great job in difficult circumstances; we can’t imagine we were the only guests to whine about the dust, noise, etc., nearby.
They will work very hard to try and find some sort of resolution to issues that you may have, but again, it’s kind of out of their hands to a large extent.
Check-in/Check-out Experience

The check-in process is very easy, and it’s not hard to check out either. They will happily store bags for you if needed, but we can’t imagine that many people take them up on that.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality

The bathrooms are nice enough, and the toiletries are good. But once again, the construction efforts nearby make it hard to relax and really enjoy getting clean here.
Value For Money

We think we’re being generous to say that this was acceptable value for money, and it’s only the relatively low price tag for a villa in Uluwatu that puts us there.
The construction efforts nearby really damage what could otherwise be an excellent stay that would represent much better value for money.
Food And Beverage Execution

The food and drinks here are very acceptable hotel fare, and we enjoyed dining here. But would we come back just for the food? No, not at the moment. Though that might be in part because of how we felt about the other inconveniences at this resort.
Location & Immediate Surroundings

Uluwatu is nice and safe. It’s very spread out, though, and you need transportation to explore; there’s not much within walking distance from this hotel.
Sadly, the fact that the neighbouring field is a construction site is a real problem and detracts from an otherwise lovely resort.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise

All the facilities and amenities are present and correct, but a little dusty thanks once again to the construction.
Overall “Personality”

We love the design of this resort; this whole “small luxury hotels of the world” idea is brilliant, and it works so well.
Every villa has a unique personality, and it all looks great in photographs and would certainly be memorable in the years to come.
Summary: Our Overview Of Hidden Hills Villas

Sadly, you can only review a resort based on what you experience there. And Hidden Hills Villas’ problems are not of its own making. Construction in the local area makes staying here a hit-and-miss experience at the moment.
We will revisit this review in the future, and we would expect to see the score rise dramatically at that time, once the construction is over.
For now, we strongly recommend contacting the resort and getting a promise that if the construction interferes too much with the quality of your stay, they will provide a refund for you to go elsewhere.
Grading: Solid 4-star experience

FAQs
Is Hidden Hills Villas Family Friendly?
Yes, Hidden Hills Villas is a family-friendly resort. The villas themselves often have a private pool. The staff provide special activity sessions for children.
There are outdoor play areas (with treehouses), and there’s a lot of outdoor space to run around in. Children of all ages are welcome.
However, there’s no kids’ club, and that means parents hoping to just crash by the pool, while their kids make friends, might want to look at another, more organised resort.
Final Thoughts On Hidden Hills Villas
We actually feel sorry for the team at Hidden Hills Villas. This is an amazing villa complex, but one that is suffering severely from the construction work around it.
The staff are amazing, the rooms are lovely, there’s so much upside about it, but the noise, the dust and the fact that they’re having to actively remove the view from some villas due to neighbouring properties that are being built overlooking them, certainly dampens the experience.
Yes, we would recommend Hidden Hills Villas, and yes, we will go back in future to see what things are like, but for now, we would contact this property before you travel and get in writing that the construction work won’t ruin your vacation or that they will refund you if it does.
