The cliffs of Uluwatu are legendary for their dramatic appearance and what could be better than waking up in a clifftop villa with its own infinity pool for dramatic views of the ocean?
That’s what Alila Villas offers its guests and while not every villa has an infinity pool over the cliff edge, the communal pool provides that wonderful vista if your villa’s does not.
So, naturally, our team was very excited by the chance to go and try out this beautiful resort for themselves and this is what they learned while they were at Alila Villas Uluwatu, Bali.

Cleanliness and Maintenance
This hotel property is immaculately cleaned and maintained. You can check all you like to try and catch the cleaners out, it’s been cleaned properly.
We also liked that the maintenance team is clearly proactive and everything is ship shape and in working order.

Sleep Quality
The beds are huge, the mattresses are amazing, the pillows are nearly perfect, so why the low score?
Well, it’s not the hotel’s fault, but next door to the property is Savaya Beach Club and when the party’s on there, it’s also going on in your bedroom, thanks to the incredible noise their speakers make. You’re not sleeping through that.

Staff Attitude And Service Culture
The staff at Alila are absolutely wonderful, they will ensure that they anticipate your every need and provide you with friendly, professional in boundless quantity.
Importantly, they also have the authority to make things happen by themselves.

Check-in/Check-out Experience
The check in process is easy enough and the check out process is even easier. They can store your bags for you, but we doubt that you’ll ever need that facility given how far this resort is from anywhere else.

Bathroom Quality & Functionality
The bathrooms are fantastic, well appointed, large and with excellent water pressure. We also really liked the included toiletries.
The towels are wonderful too and leave you feeling refreshed and content after a bath or shower.

Value For Money
While not the most expensive resort in the area, Alila is pricey and we felt that it was decent value for money but not exceptional.

Food And Beverage Execution
While there is a little inconsistency between the food and drink offerings on this property overall, they are very good and we would come back just to spend time in Cire again.

Location & Immediate Surroundings
This property is right at the base of the Bukit Peninsula which means it’s pretty isolated and far from many of the places you would want to see in Bali.
It’s fine as a base to explore Uluwatu from, but otherwise, you might want to stay somewhere a bit further up the coast.

Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise
The facilities at the Alila are as advertised and they are generally of a high standard. However, we’d like to see a few more of them at this price point for a stay.

Overall “Personality”
The views from Alila Uluwatu alone would give this property full marks in this section, but the whole complex is attractive and Instagram-worthy.
You’re never going to forget spending time at Alila.
Summary: Our Overview Of Alila Villas Uluwatu
Overall, we really liked this resort but there’s no escaping the sound from Savaya, and that really isn’t ideal. You’re going to need to consider carefully the kind of sleeper that you are before you book here.
Otherwise, if you intend to spend your time in Savaya, it might be ideal. And yes, that impacts the overall score for this property.
Grading: Very Good/Happy to Return

FAQs
Is Alila Uluwatu Villas Family Friendly?
Yes, Alila Uluwatu Villas are family friendly. They welcome children to stay with their parents throughout the resort.
They hold special activities for kids and even have movie nights. They offer a “Journey for Little Champs” and plenty of other organized activities to keep them entertained.
However, this is a clifftop resort and that means that families must watch their own children at all times, while the staff are often on hand to prevent any dangerous behaviour, you can’t rely on them to ensure your children’s safety.
Final Thoughts On Alila Villas Uluwatu
The incredible views at Allila Villas are worth staying here for alone. But the rest of the resort does a good job of living up to the promise of the marketing material.
One of our concerns with this property is that small children need constant watching because of the proximity to the cliff’s edge and that could easily be exhausting for parents.
The other big worry is the noise from Savaya, next door, it can seriously ruin your night’s sleep.
Otherwise, you’re going to have a great time staying at this luxurious resort and you’ll come home with amazing memories and a social media feed full of awesome photographs of your time here.
