Stone House Review, Ubud, Bali: Boutique Bonanza In Central Bali

The brochure for The Stone House is really attractive, and it does a good job of capturing what makes this place super popular with guests in Bali’s central town of Ubud.

Each room is curated to feel unique and exciting, and the lush tropical gardens around them are what life in this part of the island is all about.

So, our team was very excited to get the chance to visit Stone House, Bali, for themselves and find out just what this resort was about, and this is what they found.

Cleanliness and Maintenance

We felt that the overall standard of cleanliness and maintenance was very good, but we did discover the occasional dusty patch when we moved things around to check if they’d been cleaning under them or not.

Rating:

Sleep Quality

The beds are big and comfortable, the pillows soft and pleasant, and the mattresses are world-class.

We are also pleased to report that there are no light leaks or noise leaks, and you can get the perfect night’s sleep here.

Rating:

Staff Attitude And Service Culture

Bali is usually an amazing place for service, even at the hostel level, but by the time you get to places like Stone House, service is an art form.

They’re masters of the craft at Stone House, and they will ensure you have an amazing time, and issues are dealt with promptly without constant referral to a supervisor or manager.

Rating:

Check-in/Check-out Experience

Check-in and check-out were both fine with no real delays in getting us into our rooms. There’s also a baggage storage service available if you want to check out and then go and explore a little before you leave Ubud.

Rating:

Bathroom Quality & Functionality

The bathrooms are big and spacious, with plenty of water pressure. There are some nice toiletries provided, and the towels are excellent.

They’re the kind of hotel bathroom that we wish that we had in our own home, in fact.

Rating:

Value For Money

We felt that Stone House provided good value for money; there’s an awful lot of competition at this price point in Bali, and a lot of it is very good, indeed.

So, we don’t think it excelled in this category, but you won’t complain at the end of your stay, either.

Rating:

Food And Beverage Execution

With the proviso that there’s a strong focus on plant-based dining, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the food and drinks at this resort.

Every meal feels like its been lovingly crafted to meet the most exacting standards.

Rating:

Location & Immediate Surroundings

Ubud is a super popular spot to explore, and you’re within walking distance of a lot of the town and its facilities here.

Yet, you’re also tucked away from the noise, the crowds and left with wonderful vantages of the countryside.

Rating:

Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise

We felt that everything was as promised, though a lot of the activities are off-site and cost extra to take part in rather than being included in the room rate.

Rating:

Overall “Personality”

There’s no doubt that Stone House is unique and charming and will worm its way quietly into your heart over the course of your stay.

It’s a property that makes you feel wealthy and privileged in the best of fashions and the memories will last as long as your Instagram photos do of this Ubud resort.

FAQs

Is Stone House Family Friendly?

Sort of. Stone House is family-friendly, but only if your children are over the age of 12. Children under this will not be allowed admission to the property.

We guess that this is due to safety considerations, with some rooms being above the ground. It wouldn’t make for a good holiday to watch a small child fall from the treehouse, for example.

Don’t worry, though, if you need a family-friendly property, there are plenty of others to choose from in Ubud. It’s one of Bali’s best served destinations.

Final Thoughts On Stone House

We feel that Stone House punches above its weight in a lot of important ways; it makes you feel wealthy despite the very reasonable price tag on the rooms.

The food is excellent, and the little touches like the welcome fruit basket make it very special.

If you fancy something a little bit special for your time in this part of Bali, you can’t go wrong with Stone House.
