We’ve come across some interesting hotel concepts in Bali over the last few months of reviewing hotels, but we think Berry Amour may have found a unique niche.
It’s the only “love-themed private villa collection” in Seminyak and quite possibly on the whole island, and no, it shouldn’t be confused with the “love hotels” of East Asia. It really isn’t that kind of place.
Our intrigued team couldn’t wait to find out what this would mean in person, and the themes of “desire, mystique and temptation” made them even more eager. This is what they discovered there.

Cleanliness and Maintenance
This place is very clean, but there’s no doubt that it could use a bit more maintenance, too. There are definitely challenges with developing a collection of unique love-themed villas, and one of those is that wear and tear is more obvious than it might be in generic villas.
That’s not to say that anything will spoil your holiday, it won’t. But there are moments when a little refresh wouldn’t go amiss, either.
Sleep Quality
We found that the area around these villas was peaceful enough, and there was very little noise to carry into the villas at night.
The beds are large and luxurious, and we felt that they delivered a very good night’s sleep with no light leak through the curtains either. So, we could sleep as long as we wanted.
Staff Attitude And Service Culture
The staff at this villa complex are excellent, and they have a real focus on ensuring that you have an amazing experience. We think this is a critical part of running a romantic villa complex, and they really do it well.
Sure, it’s not the polished experience of a 5-star resort, but the human warmth here is genuine, and that’s a big win.
Check-in/Check-out Experience
With a small compound like this, it’s going to be rare that there are any issues with the check-in. You rock up, and before you know it, you’re in the villa.
That’s exactly how it should be, and when it comes to leaving, the process is equally straightforward and given you’re in Seminyak, there will be no long wait for a ride.
Bathroom Quality & Functionality
The bathrooms are very nice, though we wouldn’t put them on a par with the very best bathrooms we’ve encountered in Bali.
The towels and toiletries are decent, and there’s enough hot water to ensure that you have a pleasant time.
Value For Money
We felt that Berry Armour offered great but not quite excellent value for money. In common with many smaller complexes, it’s hard to provide a huge amount for guests to do without driving rates through the roof.
Our team realised that this was a delicate balancing act that the hotel pulled off with genuine aplomb.
Food And Beverage Execution
The food is good enough when it comes to needing something to eat, and there’s a lot of flexibility in the system to ensure you get things when you want them.
However, while we enjoyed the food well enough, it’s nothing to write home about either, and we wouldn’t come back just for the food.
Location & Immediate Surroundings
You really can’t go wrong with Seminyak. The area is one of the most popular in Bali for good reason. It’s safe and easy to get around with plenty of restaurants, bars, beaches, etc., within walking distance.
It’s also a good spot to get around the rest of the island from and you can visit the other beach towns and Ubud pretty easily from here.
Facilities & Amenities Vs Promise
This is a fairly small villa complex, so there are not as many facilities as we’d like. However, there’s no doubt that the place has everything that they advertise and that it’s all in good condition.
Overall “Personality”
We think they’ve tried to give these villas personality and that most people will have a pleasant time staying here, but we doubt that they’re particularly memorable in the long-term.

Berry Amour is a fun place to stay if you’re looking for a romantic getaway without spending a fortune.
We’d be happy to recommend it to anyone who thinks they’d enjoy staying here.

Is Berry Amour Family Friendly?
No, Berry Amour is most assuredly not family-friendly. In fact, the hotel’s mission is to be entirely adults-only but in the most Indonesian of ways.
So, they will only allow two guests to share a room, and they are not allowed to bring anyone else onto their property during their stay.
So, romance really isn’t dead at Berry Amour, and this is probably a good thing given Indonesia’s laws about adultery.
Final Thoughts On Berry Amour
Berry Amour has the ambition to distinguish itself from the other hotels of Seminyak, and while we’re not sure that they’re quite ready to sort your love into “pure, mystery or erotic” by room type, it’s a nice place.
We found the rooms to be attractive and the resort to be a great place for an adult getaway, and sometimes, it’s nice not to have children underfoot, right?
Overall, we’d recommend this to anyone who finds the marketing material appealing. That won’t be everyone, but you’ll know by sight if it’s you.
