10 Best Family-Friendly Hotels In Seminyak: Stylish Beaches, Kids’ Pools & Easy Access To Everything

Family building a sandcastle, a highlight of staying at the best family friendly hotels in Seminyak

Seminyak is Bali’s fashion and style hub on the Southwest Coast of the island. It provides a long stretch of beach lined with excellent restaurants and boutique shopping and offers a more upscale and creative energy than nearby Kuta, while remaining very accessible when compared to some of the quieter southern towns.

For families, this area works best when you seek out a resort that creates a calm and practical base among the buzzing locality. Look for properties with dedicated kids’ pools and/or shallow areas in the main pools, supervised activities or kids’ clubs, spacious rooms/suites/villas, free cribs and high chairs and easy beach and restaurant access.

Then there’s Eat Street and many beach clubs within walking distance, and many of the resorts here have family packages and kids’ menus that make meal times less stressful than they might be with fussy eaters.

Here’s our pick of the 10 best family-friendly hotels in Seminyak (and the immediate surrounding area). They’ve been selected because parents say they love them, they have genuinely good amenities for kids, are in a great location and are suitable for families of any combination of ages.

Practical Tips For Families That Visit Seminyak

Family walking along the coast with a young child

As with every area of Bali, there are a few things that you should know that will help you get the most out of your visit to this area. We’d recommend the following:

The beaches of Seminyak often have very strong currents, and riptides are a real possibility, unlike the calmer waters of Sanur and Nusa Dua. It’s best to keep your kids under strict supervision or, better still, stick to the resort pools for the safest water play (especially for the youngest members of the family).

A lot of the hotels here offer direct beach access or a short walk to the beach; you can get ride shares easily in most areas, and you can walk to the restaurants and shops.

It’s very easy to arrange airport transfers, and many hotels in this area include them as part of the package. We strongly recommend them when you have lots of luggage and young children; they make life much easier than haggling over taxi fares or ride-hailing after a long flight.

It’s always important to confirm any conditions regarding kids’ clubs and childcare, crib availability, child-friendly packages, etc. before you book.

Always bring reef-safe sunscreen to Bali and use hats and cover-ups to protect your children’s skin; the sun can be brutal here.

Most restaurants in Seminyak are family-friendly and can provide high chairs and kids’ menus on request.

Some of the local beach clubs are family-friendly too, with shallow pools, etc. for kids. Make sure to check with the beach club in advance though; some are adults-only.

Is Seminyak A Good Destination For A Family Holiday?

Yes, Seminyak is an excellent destination for a family holiday. There’s a lovely strip of beach running parallel to the entire area; it’s full of family-friendly resorts and hotels.

It has plenty to do during the day, particularly if you love shopping and eating out. And it’s a short drive from most of the other popular destinations on the island.

So, if your kids want to visit Waterbom or see the elephants at Mason Park, it’s not a challenge to do so.

We’d also note that renting a private car and driver is super easy and very cheap in Bali, so you can enjoy the island at your own pace; there’s no need to sign up for coach tours and the like.

Is Seminyak Safe?

All of Bali is safe, and the majority of visitors say that they find that Seminyak is safer than the cities they come from elsewhere in the world.

However, this area does have some pretty hectic nightlife and late at night, alcohol-related violence between tourists can occasionally arise out of nowhere.

Otherwise, violent crime is very rare in Bali, and you’re unlikely to be involved in any. Because Seminyak is very popular with tourists and travellers, there is some petty crime such as bag snatching and pickpocketing in this area, and it’s a good idea to keep a close eye on your stuff, particularly in crowded places.

There are also some minor health concerns, and we always recommend that you visit your family doctor a few months before you travel to ensure you have the right vaccinations and the right advice to keep things shipshape on holiday. It’s also a very good idea to have some travel insurance as healthcare can get quite expensive if things do go wrong.

Overall, the vast majority of people who visit Seminyak go home without having encountered any trouble at all. It’s also famously family-friendly and a popular spot for families from all over the world.

Which Family-Friendly Hotels Are Closest To The Beach In Seminyak?

The majority of Seminyak’s hotels are very close to the beach or directly on the beach. Some of those that are directly on the beach include: The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa, Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach, Grand Mercure Bali Seminyak and FuramaXclusive Ocean Beach Seminyak.

What Are The Best Areas In Seminyak For Families To Stay In?

We recommend that you stay on the beach side of Sunset Road; it’s the island’s busiest road, and it’s not one that you want to cross with your children, given how hard it is to find a pedestrian crossing.

Our team also thinks that properties around Dhyana Pura (Camplung Tanduk) or Jalan Laksmana are nicely positioned for easy access to the beach and nearby family-focused restaurants.

However, Seminyak is very easy to get around, and if you do find yourself a bit further away from where you want to be, you can always use a Grab or Gojek ride-share taxi to get there; it’s very inexpensive.

Do Hotels In Seminyak Have Kids’ Clubs?

Not every hotel in Seminyak has a kids’ club. While the area is very upscale compared to most other parts of Bali, not all the properties are identical; some are adults-only, and others simply aren’t big enough or lack the facilities to maintain a kids’ club.

Look for big brand name resorts like Courtyard by Marriott if you want a supervised kids’ club with activities such as daily arts and crafts, play time, games, etc.

It’s also important to check with the hotel if their club requires any form of parental supervision, has any age limits for the children to take part and whether you have to pay extra for club services.

We’d also recommend that you check to see if you need to book slots in the kids’ club (and if you do, make those reservations early to avoid disappointment) before you confirm your hotel booking.

Are Private Villas Good For Families?

Yes, in many respects, private villas are the best option for families. If you want plenty of space so that your kids and you can have some privacy, kitchens so that you can create your own meals and snacks on demand (or if you have butler service, so someone else can do this for you) and private pools so that you and your kids can always take a dip at any time.

However, villa complexes are often less likely to have other facilities tailored for children because of the private nature of the individual villas.

And it’s very important to check with the villa before you book that they can fence off the pool if you have infants or toddlers with you. It’s best not to have any tragic accidents on your Bali holiday, and this is an easy step to prevent such a thing.

Final Thoughts On Family-Friendly Fun In Seminyak

image source: The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa google profile business

Seminyak’s best family-friendly hotels are all about creating a practical, engaging base for you to enjoy this stylish coastal area from. You want multiple or, at least, dedicated kids’ pools, supervised activities that allow your kids to have fun and for you to have a little breathing room and a location that’s easy to get to the beach, food and local attractions.

Whether you opt for the beachfront pools and cool playground of The Seminyak Beach Resort, the multiple-pool setup at Hotel Indigo, the relatable and affordable childcare services at Courtyard by Marriott or the design-focused soothing calm of Alila Seminyak, you can easily find properties in this area that know what it’s like to travel with children and that make it easy for you.

Seminyak is a great spot for families that want a mix of beach time, good food and a touch of upscale creative energy without giving up any home comforts.

We’d always recommend that you match your hotel pick with your children’s ages and preferred pace of life; then it’s about prioritising room configurations to ensure everyone has enough space and effectively preparing for easy beach days, playing in the pool and delicious food.

Your kids are going to remember the sand, the pools and the fun they had playing with new friends in the hotel; you’re going to remember the rare place where style, convenience, culture, and family comfort come together to deliver a brilliant experience.
